Too big for my little hands

Postby Lady of Mystery » Nov 7th, '07, 13:48

Just out of interest really, I people are often talking about being unable to palm small coins. Well I've always had the opposite problem, I can palm a 5p no problems at all but anything £2 size or bigger just seems too big for me. The biggest I can manage is a 2p or uncomfortably I can hold an old penny but nothing bigger.

Just wondering really, does anyone else have this problem (not that it's really a problem for me because I dont use anything bigger than an old penny)?

Well, I have 'platters' for hands, and I can comfortably palm a Dollar, or 1/2 dollar (actually, I can now palm 5 half-dollars in each hand... which trust me serves no purpose—yet—but has taken ages to achieve).

However, I cannot palm:

1. a 1p—they flip and twist
2. a 5p—same as 1p, but cos of the edge, even slippier
3. a 10p—too rounded

Even though they're not milled, I find 2ps, 20ps and 50ps to be really easy to grip.

I am unsure whether hand size has much to do with things, I think it's 'training'. Although, I do know that Mrs Seige and her dainty mitts can barely conceal a dollar coin, let alone palm one.

Interestingly, something I have no trouble with doing is palming other objects such as pen lids, paperclips, etc.

i can palm 1p's, 5p's, 1 and 2 pund coins, half dollars. old english too

cannot palm dollars or 50ps or 20ps because of the hex edges. i find small coins very easy to palm.. they tend to find their own crevices to latch onto.

Nice. Perhaps consider a natural 'sea' sponge and change your showergel.

I can palm anything from a dollar down to a dime however a dime is difficult. I also can palm pen caps and all sorts of stuff that I never really thought about till reading this post. I guess I can add that to my already useless resume.

hmmmm

I've never found this to be a problem to be honest

I can palm everything from a 5p to a 50p to a £2!

Maybe just...well...practice? I dunno :?

I am pushing myself to learn to palm at the moment, coins are regularly dropping out of my hands in all sorts of odd places.

I am getting reasonable with £2s and 50ps but oddly enough although I am a right hander I find it easier to palm in my left hand.

Both hands however are still pretty claw looking at the moment. All the advice I have read on here tells me that will pass with practice.

yup you're right Johnny, just keep working at it and you'll find that you'll be able to hold the hand much more relaxed the more your muscles get used to holding the coin.
