Tearful movie

Postby greedoniz » Nov 12th, '07, 16:20

Last week Mrs. greedoniz was shocked, surprised and a bit bewildered at my reaction to favourite film of mine that she had never seen.
In the last scene she turned to me to say something but then asked "Is that a tear in your eye? Are you tearful at this!!??"
she then decided to remind me that in our two years living together she has not seen me even so much as show empathy towards a sad storyline.

The film in question was The Goonies and when Sloth says "Sloth loves chunk" it pulls at my hardened heart string enough for a single tear to whell.
Am I the only one?? maybe not for the Goonies but there must be a film that it would be considered weird to have an emotional response to?

there's a girl at work for example who cries at the end of Terminator 2 when Arnie gives a thumbs up when he melts in the molten metal.

There's a scene in Forrest Gump that never fails to bring a tear to my eye: When Forrest first discovers he has a son. Image

Come on, if you don't shed a secret tear at some point in Forrest Gump, you really are the hardest hearted person around!

I can't offer of any weird ones off the top of my head, but I'll have a think. "Life is Beautiful" is a real tear jerker at the end, but again, not an unlikely candidate...

I never once so much as felt a pang of sadness during Forrest Gump other than the thought that this is time I'll never get back. What a load of patriotic american clap trap as this clip shows

The Krays, death of the mother. Gets me every time.

Lord of the Rings, the ending of R-O-T-K... Aragorn prompting the masses to kneel before the Hobs.

The end of Cinema Paradiso does it for me and, like Farlsborough, so does Life is Beautiful.

Also, Dumbo when Mrs Jumbo is rocking Dumbo in her trunk!

Ooooh, Casablanca.

Keep the letters of transit and fly off into the sunset saving the girl you love, but who betrayed you and now loves someone else, or do the right thing and lose the best thing you ever had forever.

I don't really cry at movies but I got teary eyed when Buffy died at the end of season five and also at the end of season six when Willow broke down in Xanders arms after nearly destroying the world because her girlfriend died (yes I know I need to get out more)

I'm told it's the sign of a very sad person if he can quote chunks of the Casablanca script from memory so

If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him you'll regret it, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but soon and for the rest of your life .....
