Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I haven't a clue what I've said that got everyone so hot and bothered...

Craig in your view you do not heave a problem? Well let people decide that for themselves a Google search and reading ALL the things you have done in your life makes good reading for any Mentalist, not for the part of doing mentalism but to secure enough information about you to work out the real you. I guess we could call it a lesson in Psychology for the readers of this thread.

Michael
I can see members on this site have respect for you and the work you do, also the contributions to TM, however do you want to be though of as an individual that hit’s a man when he is down? Craig may collect a welfare cheque in my view if what I read about him is correct then maybe that is his entitlement under the laws of the USA?

When an alligator bites one arm off do you try to train it not to bite off the other? Or do you simply walk away knowing that some things in life you can’t change? For any pro in magic or Show business it’s always good to remember if it’s on the internet it’s public. When a future client does a search on you what do you want them to read?

Raybot Please do not let this thread put you off what you want to do please post and let us know how is any this thread has help you. Maybe we can get back to the purpose of the original subject and take Raybot into consideration.

Bronz, Tomo, abraxus. Sorry to seem to be a party pooper, I am just trying to take Raybot’s feeling into consideration he may be thinking he has done something wrong, give the guy a chance it is his first day… :)

Why get upset about what someone on a magic forum says about you anyhow? You see that big wooden thing at the end of your house/apartment thats a door swing it open. And no one cares about what you have writtern on the internet (well the public at large).

Never have I been down the pub and had someone come up to me and say "I read on this magic forum" at the end of the day when we are are dead and burried who is going to care.

This elitism on forums is a joke if I was a lad of 13 wanting learn something new i would think hmm I am going to buy a BB gun and shoot the neighbours cat.

Actually if these forums get any worse with "my copy of 13 steps is older then yours" "well i practice with my N/W under my banachek picture for 21 hours aday" and such like I shall be off like a pair of a lady of the nights under garments.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Unfortunately this is the only world they have.

Any 13 year olds reading please do not try the above without an adult present.

"my copy of 13 steps is older then yours".

I think not mine has 4 yes 4 faded pages and some of the corners are turned up.

I shall be off like a pair of a lady of the nights under garments.

I've been away from home for a while(visiting relatives) so I haven't been able to reply.
A lot of the posts have been helpful, thanks! A lot of them have also been....umm....amusing-and very entertaining to read, I'm convinced magicians don't get along so well(mainly because everyone is a smart-a** these days--(not referring to one just person)). I'm NOT saying that this site isn't great, but I'm pretty sure the greatest magicians didn't spend so much time on magic forums getting advise from others. they studied hard, practiced patiently, entertained thousands. So anyone who is getting knocked about on this thread don't worry, just carry on!

Forgive me for my short messages! But just because I don't often submit a message doesn't mean I'm not checking the posts, just so you know! :P

Maybe you should stick to other works, like card tricks without mentalism. If you still want to continue though, I have some advice. Don't let it bother you. The audience sees you`re nervous & doubt you. When I first started with mentalism, no one believed me. Then I started thinking to myself, "Just act like you're reading their minds." Pretend to yourself that you're not you, but someone who CAN read minds. Don't try to be a mindfreak. Don't say things like, "I'm about to read your mind!" Say sometrhing more like, "Now I want you to memorize that card. Remember it. Don't let me see it." Then slowly reveal it. For instance, Your spectator is holding the king of diamonds: "Okay, (close your eyes or look deeply into theirs) I have a feeling it's red. Also, it's a high card. I see a face, a mans face. He is rich. He is a king. His crown has diamonds in it. The king of diamonds." What I like to do better is to "read" them. "By the way your eyes are looking at me, I KNOW it's red. By the way your lips ae starting to grin/smile (they always do by now), I KNOW it's a king. By the look you just gave me, I KNOW it's a diamond. The king of diamonds." Try it.
