I think the title of the show is a touch misleading. It seems a little less like he "crashes" the convention and more like he "trains and takes part in a competetive way".
still, looking forward to it
I have never once been told i look like JLC. (if only i was fatter, had worse hair and a sillt accent...)

Oh, in that case, he's less of a numpty. I thought (and with good reason, judging from his previous exploits), he was just going to push his way through the barriers going, "WAHEY! ROCK ON! GOOD TIMES! HELLO THERE! WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK TO ME? AMAZING! GOOD TIMES!"

I'm sure there will be some of that too.

I love the look of these terriblely corny magicians. I may be wrong, but from the advert it lookd like a loads of over competitive nerds with no charisma whatsoever!

Nice to see people being so positive about magic being given coverage on TV.
So a couple of Trailers is enough to say that people taking part in a magic competition are a bunch of overcompetitive nerds is it?

Whether you like him or not, lots of people do and they will be watching because of that. Others will be watching because they want to see the magic.
Either way, magic gets seen and hopefully enjoyed by a few million people.

I take it you wont be watching it as you seem to have already made up your minds it's going to be c*** (not the best).

Wow, if only I could be as enthusiastic about magic as you guys.

I shall certainly be watching it. Hopefully, from what I have heard elsewhere, he has respect for magic and will show it in a good light.
You get horrendous nerds in all hobbies and interests and all forms of art, so I hope and feel that it will, show the good side of things.

This topic has won the prize for the amount of new threads started about it! This is at least the fourth and they're now altogether in the Events section.

No worries, at least nobody can say we didn't mention it and give it a bit of publicity :D !! (And at the time of writing, only 20 minutes to go.....)

I loved his costume, I think I might get one of them . I thought It was a good show, very funny and I'm glad he didn't show how any of the tricks were done.

Yeah, good on him, I was quite impressed he managed to pull it off really. The Magic Circle guy came off well, eh?! "Could I do that?" "Er... no, actually, I don't think you could." Also, six months to learn a rope routine? Who's he kidding?! I know, practice, presentation, not performing until it's perfect (and everything else that begins with "P") but still, half a year to do a simple rope routine... ah well, I guess the 'Circle don't exactly have a reputation of an open arms welcome to keep up.

Also, did anyone else find the Alakazam bit very funny? He's got a few weeks to come with something stunning and Peter Nardi still manages to sting him in the wallet for £240! Now that's a magic dealer!

I was also quite impressed by the lack of exposure, which I had been gearing myself up for. The only disappointment was the wizard PK ring. Exposing the gimmick and naming the item for anyone to google was slightly bad form :?

Still, not an overall disaster, which it easily could have been. Felt sorry for that guy though... "I've been married twice, divorced twice, with a relationship in the middle that ended badly. But there's always my love of magic." Then gets disqualified for overrunning :(

By the end I thought he did a good job really. You can't fault his excitement for the magic and you could see he was enjoying himself. It wasn't long into the program I started to wonder how it was going to end and shuddered at the potenial outcome.
After his CUPS outburst and then sitting down and exposing things I was worried he was going to trash the show and give everything away and make the whole thing look rather silly. Like I said though, he did ok :)
I'm not sure if in my own head the fact that he came 3rd place after such little preparation does all the hard we do any justice, or devalues the work real performers have to do. I'll have to mull that one over.

In the end, it could have been worse, alot worse and i laughed out loud when his Key just sat there at the end and he said oh, it's not your key and walked off

Personally I liked the program, was a bit worried about exposure but apart from the aforementioned ring bit and a bad metamorphosis camera angle it was remarkably sympathetic. Loved the costume too, it was proper tasty.
