Why would someone "mess up" with the ID? Doesn't even make sense to me at least.... Very poorly done in my eyes.

Trust me, I've seen noted names "Miss" witch the ID... it's not that hard to do nor "out of the ordinary"
The two guys in these videos are a classic example of Magicians trying to do mentalism but not understanding how to create mystery; they are simply doing a trick by wrote... exactly as the instructions said in the book on on the DVD or whatever. They are not the sort that invest time into refining an effect or creating a coherent sense of flow.
Now when it comes to "catching" someone make a bend, or whatever... it's not difficult for trained eyes to do. It is in our nature to see such things and critique them as a short coming. In truth, most any of us can be "caught" if someone if privy to the kind of material we are presenting and the more
traditional methods by which such things are accomplished. Again, this is a common weakness that exists within our craft but not so much as in the mode of the performer as it is our role as observer; learning to step back and "forget" what we know long enough to see what this guy does through the laypersons perspective will make a major difference in how the demonstration is perceived. Though the first guy linked to need to polish his word & people management skills, he did a reasonably decent job. His biggest flaws readily correct by way of gaining more experience and LISTENING to the feedback given him by those that have a bit more "seasoning" for the sake of removing the rough spots. Frankly I think think guy could evolve into someone capable of delivering a decent program, he just needs some formal guidance at this stage in the game.
As to LordFreddie's observation on the "OMG" term...
AGREED!
Sadly, what passes as being an "education" in this country limits most of the past and present generation groups when it comes to the ability to properly express themselves under typical circumstances. The OMG mantra being used in reference to surprise and joy as well as dismay and ugliness... e.g. I'd say we need to start shooting so-called "educators" for every child they allow to fall into said rut.
