coin to watch case.
multiplying watches, can be picked up for a £5 each from some markets, watches that is, sleights used.
time prediction with a watch winder.
colour changing watch face.
one watch picked from three happens to have a cross inside the case.
never ending watch chain.
flash paper on watch chain, watch apears.
take of watch from chain and toss it back onto chain ala key chain link.
wrist watch goes into time machine silk / bag and goes back in time and becomes a pocket watch.
shrinking / expanding pocket watch.

Fantastic idea! Despite the magic shop owner showing me that trick just last week, and my complaints that to carry a piece of glass around screams 'gimmick" - this hadn't ever occured to me.

Many thanks!

I think it was Scotty York who first performed folded card to Pocket Watch.

I use this a lot and it kills. Be careful when you dismantle the watch to remove the mechanism though as you will need to glue the lid release pin in place in order to open the watch.

No point in having the folded card beneath the watch glass as you can't then tip in out and give it away.

Something like a raffle ticket or other small billet sized item is selected by the spec and signed. It's then folded into a small packet, wrapped in, er, tissue paper. The performer produces a lighter, sets fire to the packet and it's gone in a flash. Whilst eyes are adjusting to this sudden luminescence, the magish takes the watch from the table, pops open the cover (yes, it has one!) and inside is a folded ticket. The watch is turned over so the ticket drops into the specs hand, the watch is put away and the spec opens the ticket to find, lo and behold, it's his signed ticket.

Nice idea there, mandrake! I could see how that could work  Although is that real trick you can buy? or did you just make that up?

No. It's called imagination. You should try using it sometime. Next time you're tempted to visit ellusionist (or similar), stop and turn off your computer. Then spend 10 minutes thinking about how to create an effect of your own. Try it. It can be very rewarding and a lot cheaper than buying all the latest pieces of tat on offer at many magic websites.

I hope I don't sound too stern. It's just the statement you made above speaks volumes about your own attitude to magic and the attitude of thousands (millions?) of others around the world. A real trick? Or just something you made up. I weep for the future.

To be fair, I don't think he used "just" in a derogatory fashion. I think it was more - "is that something you can buy - or did you just make it up a few minutes ago" type of thing.

Believe me - my sentiments are with you, Mr. Wand. However, I think the comment was far more innocent than it reads.
