I've always thought a quick copper/silver routine is a nice way to start, especially if you prefer Half Dollars etc. The plot is very simple, and you can start with passing a coin around whilst pattering about how it's actually a copper coin plated in nickle - take it back with the left hand - right hand "rubs off" the silver leaving copper.

You can then either go into a spellbound routine or do several copper silver switches whilst pattering. If you end the trick with just the copper to examine, later you can retrieve the silver to be one ahead for a following effect.

Anyway, lots of options. Be warned that copper/silver can expose some of your best switches if you go onto other coin tricks.

Im going to have to agree with Tenko and Lawrence. Hopping Halves is the way to go.

I use the 10p 2p version, but I know Tenkos Half Dollar, Chinese coin version has some great patter behind it.

Enjoy.

All the best,
