~Mark Speight Found Dead~

Postby Sophie » Apr 14th, '08, 16:21

Mark was found dead yesterday afternoon. There is speculation he was found hanged.
Its really sad news. I grew up with him and will miss seeing his lovely happy face.

I read that earlier, very very sad news. Must be awful for his family and his girlfriend's family to loose them both so soon.

I thought that this whole story from beginning to end has been so tragic.

It's sometimes hard to find the right words.

I loved watching Mark on Smart, and general Kids' TV when I was (even) younger. Such a sad way to go. It must be hell for his and his girlfriend's families.....
Such a loss...............

Please don't think I'm unsympathetic Sophie, but search "missing persons" into google and see how many sites come up. Mark's disappearance and subsequent death are tragic, but far from unique in circumstances. There are many people up and down the UK who are in a state of constant anxious waiting for their loved ones to come home - I'm not sure diverting police resources so majorly for one man as you suggest would have been a very kind thing to do. Remember, Mark's fame and recognisable face actually already put him at an advantage in terms of being identified.

I'm not sure of all the details regarding Mark's situation, but as i understand it he hung himself and it took six days to find him?

I'm not sure what anyone could have done once they realised he was missing let alone the Police if he had already killed himself.

It's a sad thing for sure, but the loved ones left behind are the ones that will suffer for the rest of their lives.

I have to say—in my cynical way—that suicide is very selfish, it just leaves a trail of distress to those left behind. The tragedy isn't the loss of Mark, it's more the thought of the suffering of those around him.

And btw, I think he was great! A sad loss.

There may be many people go missing all the time but im talking about Mark here.
A truly gifted, unique, caring and wonderful guy who took his own life beause his heart was broken.
I will miss him very very much. He's to be grieved for its such a sad loss.

...And in the process, broke another set of hearts... does this mean all those that he left behind will do the same??? I do hope not, this could prove to be exponentially problematic.

Like I say, thank the Lord that everyone doesn't have the same attitude.

Carpe Diem, or whatever.
