I was on about this with Tenko last night. I think everybody whos planning on going should have a quick chat so different people dont end up performing the same effects. If people are paying 50p to see some magic, we want to make sure they arent seeing the same thing twice.

Im thinking of doing:
sponge balls (from Noblezadas 'Sponge') for the kids ;)
Relic
Heirloom
Ladybug
Revalatioons shirt
some metal bending for the adults

Iv also mentioned doing some challenge type escapes that get audience members involved. Im planning on passing a collection tin round and hustling a bit;) maybe saying il do the escape when theyres a tenner in there or something

gary, are you planing on doing a palour/stage show? Thats a great idea!
Maybe a few of use could put some mentalism pieces together and make up a show for a couple of quid entrance:D

Ah crud!

Ok pencil me in, I'll just be back from Holiday when this is on and as you say it'll be a shame to miss a chance to do something

For me it'll probably be some sponge ball routine (defo different to Lozy) ACR, Chop Cup and Coinvexed. I'd probably throw in a short rope routine and maybe a packet trick to boot depending on the set.

I was considering buying coinvexed for this gig as its ideal, but I kinda figured other people might be using it, thats why I suggested people confering before hand.

Iv got some personalised postcards sat on a shelf doing nothing so I think I'll try an Osterlind effects as well. I dont know what its called, but the effect is that the spectators name a simple shape and it appears burnt into a previously blank index card. Its from ETMMM dvd set.

I was planning something like this:

psychological quickies, a real night bank effect (I'll probably lose £20), Four Sided Triangle, Desire and ending with a Smash and Stab. In that order. I'll probably do walkaround DD's and billet work (simple quickies). I'll probably do some ESP stuff as a walkaround piece and Time Machine too and maybe Reflections. I won't be doing any PK, bending or watch stopping. Neither will I be doing any card tricks or visual stuff generally. I'm going to be using a Scorpion for the S&S. It's small but it's all I've got.

Have you seen Osterlind version of Bank Nite, Gary?
Although the performer keeps the money, one spectator ends up with 4 lottery scratch cards and they have to decide which one to keep and which ones to give to the other spectators who lost. It makes a nice touch without having to forfit any money.

If you fancy doing an evening show I could perform a book test, divine time, mind impression board, sterno esp, refraction and maybe an acid roulette depending on how brave the crowd are

Hi Lozey,

I have seen Osterlinds version but I don't want to cheat!

I'm not sure about doing an evening show with you. You're going to be doing magiccy magic (spongeballs etc) and I do not want to associate myself with that sort of performing style. I'm going to be playing it straight, if you catch my drift.

If you were to drop the magic tricks and were to play the mentalism as if it were real then we could work something out.

Gary

Tenko, what charity (or charities) is the fun day supporting? Just out of interest.

Also, will the event be miked? Er, I mean will microphones be used? And how do you spell the abbreviation of microphone?

I'm a bit vexed!

Barry, my boss, is most vexing. I might not be able to get that Saturday off. He says to tell the organisers (which I suppose is you, Tenko,) that I might be able to do it. I should ask him a week before if I can have the day off! How does he expect people to plan their lives? Oooh, I'm really quite angry.

So, Tenko, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make it. I'll rehearse my set anyway and behave as if I will be able to make it, hopefully the universe will arrange things my way.

If you need a definite yes/no for your scheduling then I'll probably have to pull out as I have no guarantees. Take my advice, people, don't get a job working for a megalomaniac who owns a hippy shop. It's not good.

I tell you, I am not a happy camper.

On the plus side, I met Marc Oberon a couple of days ago. He was a thoroughly nice chap. We chatted about magic and he showed me his Master Deck, which does look nice.

All the best
Gary

Thats a pain in the **** when that happens Gary. I work part time for a private medical business and they are always doing that to me. I really want to go see a stage show of Sweeney Todd this saturday , but they still cant tell me if i can have the day off yet, so I cant buy a ticket :(
