Oh dear, what a review and what incredible testimonials from everyone else!

Of course, being strong I didn't find it necessary to rush straight out to buy. I can control myself.

I held out for a full five minutes before I put my order in! Can anyone beat that? And of course there is no point in just ordering one thing is there? So with the book at £21.99 (Magicbox) I suddenly have an order for over £40.

I probably have until tomorrow night to think up a story for my wife, then the evidence will be there and I am supposed to have had my magic expenditure for this month already.........

Good morning. My name is John and I a CUPSoholic.

Top idea. I bought it last week after reading a number of reviews and having it recommended to me by a friend (who fooled the you-know-what out of me with Dead Reckoning).
This is in my top five magic book list.

I have had this book for a couple of weeks now. The review is spot on., an absolutely fabulous book. I am slowly graduating through Royal Road, on to Born to Perform and this was a bit of a jump in to the unknown for me.

Reading a review like this from an experienced magician I was sold on the book but nervous about whether it would be too much for me.

It isn't an easy book for the relative newbie but it is such a class act that I believe it is another of those jumps forward, like Born To Perform was when I got it.

Last night I sat and worked through Dead Reckoning. The beauty of the trick is amazing. After I had done it once and it had all fallen exactly as the instructions said it would, I had to repeat it just to make sure it wasn't total fluke. The book was worth the money for me for this one alone and it has so much more.

Thanks for the initial review, thanks for the other positive comments. Those are why I bought the book and I am so pleased to have read them

I've had this book a couple weeks now too, and it has not disappointed me at all. I now perform both Dead Reckoning and Degrees of Freedom to anyone willing to watch - they are both SO clean and both SO impossibly magical.

This book is amazing.

I am working on the sleights this book has introduced me to - the three-part ace-assembly routine 'Bullet Train' has me hooked just reading it. I did a very dry run for the girlfriend the other day, doing all three parts and she was very impressed by Interrobang Aces.

I am telling you now - buy this book. It actually rocks.

Just to add my 2p to this thread (though it's not really necessary in the light of all the glowing testimonials above) I bought the book a few days ago.

Wow.

Best book I own, hands down. (Well, second maybe, not sure about Smoke and Mirrors 8)).

So many ideas in there to play with. Dead Reckoning is such a clever working and so impossible...

If you don't own this, buy it. £21 at magicbox. Worth twice that.

I add a big plug for this book and his other books, esp Impossibilia. The man is a master!

Every positive comment made in this thread is 100% true. This book is well worth owning. The writing style is excellent, and I have occasionally found myself reading it as I would a novel. Stop reading this now, and go and buy it if you don't own it already.

I have a question for those with the book- I have been practicing the Bullet Train Aces routine for a while now, and am getting to the point of thinking about how to present it. When I read the description of the effect (particularly in relation to the timing aspects) i was fascinated, but I worry that my blossoming love affair with this effect has left me in a position where it impresses me far more than it would a spectator.
I've tried just doing it while explaining what's going on to my test subject (what appears to be going on, rather than what actually is, mind you!), but I can't help feeling as though I come over as a bit smug when I do this.

I've been thinking about ways to present this without lapsing into pure self indulgence, but while also avoiding some kind of uncomfortable convoluted story. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I'm not fishing for a full transcript of someone's patter, more just a general idea such as "The magician repeatedly expresses his annoyance at the fact that he can't set up his trick, and that the aces keep moving too early" that I can toy with (incidentaly, this is the best I've thought of so far).

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

As with all of John's Products this is excellent, time and time again he comes up with effects that work in the real World. One of the best creative minds in magic (along with my hero Wayne Dobson ). A great book that you all should consider.

I STILL can't believe that 'Degrees of Freedom' actually works and I STILL can't understand why... but it does work and it amazes me each time. It's like I'm showing a trick to myself each time I try it. I feel like saying to myself "How did you do that?" I then reply "It's a secret!" ;-)
