interesting you picked a video that has received overwhelming positive feedback by people who have watched it on You Tube. Seems to suggest you are somewhat out of touch with popular culture.

There is no problem with the fact that CA doesn't appeal to you. But that doesn't make him a rubbish magician. We have a new member here who like's him, why not. As I said, Dat summed it up well. Magician's don't have to "appeal" to other magicians as much as they have to appeal to the people who pay to see them perform.

The general consensus of people who have seen CA perform at the Luxor in Vegas is that the show is fantastic entertainment.

That is very true but if you look at last season this video look so over acted its just the same thing in every show. He is a good showman but to me this you can tell it is so acted and totally fake look at this youtube clip.

This naked jail break ... not impressing at all.
And actually degrading that he compares himself to Harry Houdini, let alone pretending to be better than him.
Chriss Angel - a man that is well known for using stooges left and right, can not impress me anymore by using the same scam again and again.

Just the fact that during the break out, all the stooges and all the crew are waiting outside. No camera crew inside by the cell door. All cams inside are preset on tripods. OK. But when he is supposedly opening the main lock on the door from inside, through the little window, why is there all of a sudden a close-up camera shot on the lock? It's a camera that is obviously hand held by somebody and you can clearly see that it moves a little bit. It's not on a tripod. This is enough proof to expose him once more as fraud and fake.

Everyone loves the Pokemon but that doesn't make it good. He makes a mockery out of the art. He's a SH*T magician. End of story.

You obviously don't work for Nintendo...

I repeat, YOU dont have to be entertained, if others are that's fine. To suggest that if you don't like something it must be bad is silly. You are out of touch.

Since the purpose of this thread is to welcome a new member (webmaster430) who happens to be a Criss Angel fan... I'll just say to our new member that Talk Magic typically embraces people with different views and the naive out of touch attitude of "if I don't like something it must be rubbish" is not held by all members.

I'm a nice welcoming type of guy. However a thread entitled "The New Chriss (sic) Angel is Here!" is bound to attract a certain type of response. And it did.

It would be like joining a football forum and announcing yourself by saying "The New David Beckham in Here!"

And what's with the favourite colour poll? The mind boggles.

Anyway, yes, welcome. Hope you stay active and look forward to swapping ideas and thoughts with you over the coming months and years.

Based on this comment, I'm assuming therefore you haven't seen one. Hard to judge therefore...

Dat, I think your comments sum it up best.

Actually BobbyCat... when Criss first started out he WAS awesome as well as innovative. Now day's he's viewed as being far more a joke and passing fancy... kind of like the one hit recording artists of Rock-n-Roll fame.

Like those one hit stars, most of Angel's fans are ignorant teenie-boppers more interested in him "sexually" than magically... coming to see his shows is just a way to be closer to him... Copperfield went through this same scenario long ago as did Lance and various others...

I know people in Vegas (in that I lived and worked there years ago) most all of whom say the show is a major disappointment... but true to Vegas' and how nobodies become "stars of the strip" the placement of money in the right hands can make anyone a character of note... even Geno Munari and Dixie Dooley... who are considered by most critics, to be two of the worse acts to ever work the town... but politics is politics.

I remember Criss before MTv and when he was still "hungry" as a performer. He was great in those days and very innovative... his success however proved his own destruction... this and his support of the punk "gangsta" idea, which at his age, shouldn't even be in the running. As I said before, Criss needs to GROW UP!

ONE LAST NOTE... very few who are actually involved with magic, especially as artists and die-hard performers, have any admiration for Criss... they see him for what he is -- a Tv imitation of a "magician". Most of the big names that "endorse" Criss, have been paid to do so (many actually on his payroll). But his biggest political edge is having the support of Johnny Thompson... that's who made Criss Angel the commodity he is today and I believe he did so for the sake of retirement planning more than anything else.

Let's be fair to Criss Angel; he is easily as good as Brad Christian ;)

Although I made a hefty amount of negative Criss Angel comments on these boards...I actually admired his performance when he was still in Broadway. It was post 9/11 but he still performs on a fully packed show.

Sadly, most of the stunts that he does on stage are the same in the streets, which is quite weird in a way (ex. wall walking). That is why we always see him on a "taped" show and never "live" on the streets. It's common sense that stage illusions are for ummmm...the stage

BTW...Welcome to TM! :D

welcome to the forum. Not the biggest CA fan myself unfortunately, the guy clearly has some talent, and also has some pretty impressive names behind him, but he's just not really that good. Much of his sleight of hand is sloppy, and his presentation is really poor. I think Jay Sankey hit the nail on the head with his comedy impression of him in that YouTube video he did.

Still, it's nice when magic gets a resurgence in popularity, or has a 'pin-up'. It's just a shame that he's not half as talented as Lance Burton, and has less charisma in his whole body than Copperfield has in his TT.

If you're new to magic, then your enthusiasm is commendable, but have a look around, see if you can see performances of other magicians, from archive videos or even on TV, there's plenty of stuff to chew over on YouTube. If you still think CA is best after seeing some (and I mean proper professionals, not YouTubers!), then fair play to you, we all have our favourites. Good luck with your magic!
