Olympics - A bunch of sports so dull that people can only stomach them once every 4 years.

USA's Men's volleyball first loss was embarrassing.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I love the olymipcs when they're on. It's a brilliant chance to get to see some good sports that don't often get shown. I'm hoping for a good bunch of medals in the swimming, well done Rebecca Aldinton for our first swimming gold!

I always love watching the sailing, which is a sport that never gets shown normally.

great to see Nicole Cooke pick up a gold, we met her at one of Dave's races once, a really lovely girl.

I saw her grinning away for England on the news yesterday. She looks very, very familiar.

All of you whingeing about how boring it is are a buncch of miserable old gits aren't you?

The olympics are one of the few times you get to see so many sporting disciplines performed to such a high level in such a short space of time. I'm normally not keen at all to watch most sports but this is one time that I do.

Cheer up and try to enjoy something!

nickj speaks the truth, just relax settle down with the misses and watch some of the various events. You will most likely enjoy the competition and rivalry between your conutry and another.

I'm very cheerful and enjoy a lot of things. But the Olympics are boring because (to me) sports are intrinsically boring, no matter what level they're being performed at. Who cares if someone can run faster or jump higher than someone else?

Not whingeing, just stating my personal opinion. Others may differ.

Ah well, I guess it's just time for you all to admit that you are wrong and I'm right then!

I can thoroughly sympathise with anyone not interested in sport; I went through years at school trying to explain to everyone why I didn't enjoy watching football. However, the whole sporting competition thing has grown on me over the last few years and now I quite enjoy watching most of the sports.

I don't think that the equestrian events should be included though; I think the olympics should be about human endeavour and would campaign for more canoe/kayak events myself, maybe kayak polo or some freestyle would be good.

Did you know, the Olympics only were invented so that magicians could do some fancy moves with their linking rings and show off by replicating the Audi symbol?

That's about the only interesting bit as far as I can see - sport that's spoiled by drugs and big corporate sponsors.

And how come Coca Cola are always the main sponsors and have been since the third Olympics in 14BC?

And that chap that does the rowing, he's won a gold in every Olympics since 1640. That takes some doing.
