First there is no magic number of posts that will let anyone in. As you say 50 one liner posts are worthless compared to one good review, or even a valid comment on an existing topic.

The only criteria is that the member in question makes regular interesting or informative magic related contributions to the TalkMagic forum. We need to determine that you are committed to magic and not just after learning secrets.

yeah and don't worry if the can't understand you for the first 500 posts if your a mage eventualy they will grant you access, even me.

the post fiqure is meerly a guide to put off magic spoilers and secret gatheres who won't want to do 50+ posts even one liners before even being considered, the mods here are very good at finding like minded individules and spoilers will not find anything in the secrets area that will be to there advantage but there is a lot of content that true mages will apreciate and be able to comment on.

its a lot like a nitting convention with new takes on the drop stich and shuttle weave but nothing a spoiler of stitching woul'd like, like the secret of bobbin weaveing or rug quilting, get the picture secret hunters there not here ok. 8)

For all of you that believe if you post 50 times youare going to get in think again. I have posted around 70 times i think and I am not in the restricted area, you acess is not based upon how many posts you do.

As bananafish said above:

There is also no set timescale, it could be several weeks/months or it could be never - it all depends on the assessment made. For all those who are intrigued by all this, the stickies on the front page give as much information and guidance as possible.

So does this mean that it is a "clique" type of area?

personality has nothing to do with access to the restricted area, nor is it cliquey its simply a safeguard against exposure of secrets. Most members of this forum will eventually obtain access through time by following the guidelines.

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..
