Replicant is right. Don't hurt your head trying to work it out because it's frustrating. Chances are, at the end of it all, you'll only be disappointed anyway, just like any trick method reveal.
The thing we can learn from Derren is that showmanship is a massive part of presentation. So many of his tricks we know the method for instinctively and it's an absolute pleasure to think "trick's done" and watch him work it right up to the conclusion.
Yes, it's quite fun to attempt to work out a how something is done, but without confirmation, it'll only ever be a guess. Instead, try and think how you would do something similar. That's much more challenging and ultimately, more rewarding, because then you've got something you can present.
