See the last paragraph for venue and pricing details. I would go myself, seeing as it's only a short drive from my house, but I can't get the time off work.

For those of you based in or near Birmingham, Pete Firman will be doing a show at The Glee on October 31st.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Pete peform twice for The Candy Box Burlesque club and also had the joy of chatting with him at one of the after show parties in some pub. The guy is really friendly and a damned good performer.

Unfortunately The Glee is an over 18's venue.

I saw his show in Birmingham on Friday - rude, crude and extremely entertaining! He asked one of two guys on the front row of seats to help with his first effect and asked what he did for a living. 'I'm a magician' came the reply. Pete sent him back to his seat very quickly indeed! Before getting the second guy to stand up he asked him the same question and got more or less the same answer so told him to stay where he was. Then he looked at me and asked if I was a magician as well - I half lied and said, 'Not really' so I got to help with the silk knotting thing and I swear I couldn't see how he did it!

Like jpshipp, I saw Pete in Leicester on Sunday and had a fantastic evening. The place he was performing in was a small, intimate comedy club venue that held probably 50 or 60 people and I've seen some acts there who haven't really handled playing to such small numbers very well. Pete seemed to embrace it and put on a brilliant performance where there was more honest, hearty laughter in the room than I've heard in a long while (and from a Leicester audience too)! My heart broke when he was doing the linking finger rings borrowed from three members of the audience. All the guy on stage had to do was tip them from the wine glass into his hand and see that they were now all linked together. As he emptied them into his hand Pete said "and now they're all linked together". All good so far but then the guy drops them onto the floor, the three rings separate and bounce off in all directions. Pete just looked at him and said "thanks, and now they're not!". He pulled everything back together brilliantly and had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand.
If you get the chance to see the show then treat yourself to an early Christmas prezzie and book tickets.
