Just a passing thought - there are effects where cups of water or similar things change into confetti - and what would be more normal at a Wedding than confetti?

Plan A) Beg borrow or steal one of those gaffed Milk Pitchers, 'pour' the milk into a paper cone which has been preloaded with confetti, carefully carry the cone over to your best man's head, invert the cone and shower him with confetti.

Plan B) is as above but you could glue 2 sheets of newspaper together with the confetti inside and all you'd have to do then is invert paper over his head, wait for the hopefully stunned reaction when nothing descends on him, then tear the cone in half to release the confetti. You might need to slip the cleaners a tenner beforehand so they're OK about all the mess. (Of course, if all this happens on a Saturday in the Birmingham area, the newspaper would have to be the Sports Argus as all the guys I've seen at Wedddings nip out and return with the Argus to read at the Reception!)

Hi Slipper Penguin

I regularly work weddings and always do Aniversary Waltz for the "happy couple" I print my own gimmicks (a la Versatile Monte DVD) with a Queen of Hearts and King of hearts. I explain that cards chosen at random reveal the true person, etc etc and force the queen, do the neccessary, then force the King on the groom, but before reveal look at the mother in law and say this is where we find out about your new son in law. It goes down well and the couple have always thanked me at the end of the evening for "their special magic".

I learnt the basic of the routine from Doc Easons video, i've changed it a little, but only a little.

Look it out and give it a try.

All the best, and good luck.

Al.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.. especially those who PM'd me.

Mulling about these ideas (and working on my speach) what are the best rose productions ? Mandrake has already given me pointers on Match to Rose and tourch to rose.. but it would appear that neither of these can be "given" to my new wife (well she will be)

So.. what are the best and easiest rose productions. ie. Is the "appearing rose" any good or the Rose Magic by Monty DVD etc..

I promise this is the last question about this.. It's just that I'm working on putting in the love knot (thanks Magicdiscoman and Mandrake) but would like to finish off by giving her a rose (lighted match to rose sounded good.. but I can't really give it to her.)

So suggestions please for some really great rose effects would be most helpful.

Thanks again

Slippery

The better way, is to make up a small wire holder that you can hook over the back of your chair. This could be loaded during the meal by a member of the waiting staff, or by a friend who comes to chat with you at some time.
The holder can be put together very simply using a wire coat hanger. All you do is flatten the hanger, with the hook at the top, then bend the bottom out roughly 90 degrees. This is where you sit the stem of a real long stem rose.
To produce it, you stand, pushing the chair back a little. Then turn to your wife, and borrow her napkin.
At the same time, your other hand makes contact with the rose stem.
Bring the rose up and away from the holder, as you take the napkin up and towards yourself, thus covering the rose. Then remove the napkin, and present the bloom.

I liked the rope suggestion Magicdisco man - thanks!

And of course congratulations to you SlipperyPenguin.

I performed at a large wedding over the past weekend (160 guests) and the most talked about and requested tricks were - the easy ones!!!!!

An ID routine, twisted sisters and a cut and restored rope combined with unequal ropes routine as part of the restoration were particularly popular. Got me two more bookings on the night!
