Ive recently joined this forum again and ive noticed its virtually dead compared to what it was a year or so ago... what has happened?

Anyone got any ideas about how to get the forum more active?

It seems active enough. I have found several threads about our fellow member, Mark Lewis. I have read and enjoyed each post with a smile on my face and a laugh in my belly.

Mr. Lewis is one of the funniest guys I know. He has been a member of several forums, I enjoy belonging to, around the Internet.

I'm one American who gets it. I appreciate all that Mr. Lewis has offered via these Magic Forums and hope he continues to educate us more.

Most of all...I really like Mr. Lewis' first name!

With regard to Mandrake posting bad jokes (are there any other kind?!) I stand guilty as charged but in my defence I ask you to bear in mind that the ones I don't post are even worse!

In respect of the recent newcomer mentioning that fings ain’t what they used to be I've checked the IP address and can't see any connection with our new arrival and anyone else and more specifically no connection with a different user name of a year ago. In any event, the TM of November 2007 is history and we've moved on a lot but, as our French colleagues say, the more things change, the more they stay the same – or something like that. There may be a lot of mentalism discussed but most of it is now in the Mentalists Only Area, there’s still the usual assortment of discussion of other types of magic, plenty of arguments, several fallings out, one or two bans in the offing and plenty of help, tips and priceless information being given for free. Topics being discussed are those which the active members want to discuss so, if anyone feels the forum needs change and new direction, it’s all in your hands chaps and chapesses, just start posting it!

Thanks for clearing up the whole IP business Mandrake. I have no connection to any user on here. As for my old username... it was a long time ago and im living at a new house now with a new computer so you wont find any connection with old user accounts.

Anyway guys, please stop this whole "magicmindben and alter28" are the same c*** (not the best)...

What I meant was that the forum database goes right back to day one so if you were here under another name, it'll still be registered. Your current IP is yours, and yours alone

It was an off day. In fact it was a funny kind of weekend. I think Neptune was stuck in Uranus. Or something. :D

Also Sagittarius was on the cusp - something to do with a dodgy meat pie eaten on Friday...

Joined again? if it was so good the first time you joined why'd you leave for so long?

It is possible to change one's IP address. Not too difficult for the modest tech to handle. Although one is innocent until proven guilty.

I see the self fulfilling prophecy... have a whine about the activity here, wind a few members up and BINGO, a thread with a bit of "fire in it's belly..."

I will say this, a year or so ago, half the threads that discussed mentalism or hypnosis ended up locked. More recently, the debate on many varied issues is just as enthusiastic but sufficiently more civil to ensure most threads stay alive.

That's one change I see. A good change I think... and it's not because people are less enthusiastic when making their point, we still have a number of members who live on Mars with the Fairies...

Having said that,

Embrace the opportunity to engage serious and interesting discussing / debate with people have have published commercially successful and viable work. There aren't too many other places one can do that free of charge.

My horoscope in the Saturday Telegraph magazine a couple of weeks ago said "Mars is having a friendly conversation with Uranus". I kid you not. We did have a giggle over that one.

Apparently now "the Sun and Moon are having a shouting match", which isn't quite so nice, but at least it's less... er, personal.

I rather think that Paul should rephrase that bit about "Neptune being stuck in Uranus"

I am a psychic reverend and holy man of the cloth and I cannot approve of unnatural behaviour. This isn't San Francisco you know.
