Juan Tamariz's Verbal Magic is devoted to this sort of instructional magic.

My first thought after reading Irreversible was that you could have two effectively the "do as I do" presentation but with two decks and specs.

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

I was surprised it took so long to get to this book!

the ad men wrote:It's an old adage of conjuring: The strongest magic happens in the hands of the audience.

A lesser-known corollary to this is: The more that happens there, the stronger the magic.

So what if it all happened in their hands?
What if the magician wasn't even in the room?
What if only his voice were guiding them...
From the radio - or the television - or from far away?
- and the magic happened while they did everything!

Have a look here. http://www.fiveofheartsmagic.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=144

If the link doesn't work then you're looking at the Five of Hearts MAgic web site under stage magic, and then for the routine that comes with the Burr Elm Card Box at the top of the second page

The routine is entirely performed by the spec and although the box is an integral part of the routine, there will be cheaper versions available if you shop around. It's a totally self working routine which delivers what it claims.

Can be perfored as a mentalism or cabaret/commedy routine.

There are quite a few of those in Hugard/Braue's Card Manipulations. Not sure where you can find that though.
