I'm enjoying myself immensely at the moment, having managed to wangle a week and a half off work. Alternating the smallest possible amounts of housework with plenty of computer fun and long-neglected crafts.
We always have a very quiet Christmas. Neither of us is Christian, so the religious aspect is irrelevant. Our nearest family members are in Queensland and California. And we're basically not the sort to get all of a tiswas about decorations and making everything "perfectly Christmassy".
I managed to get around to putting up our tree (18 inches high, sits on top of the TV) last Thursday, which happened to be our 21st wedding anniversary.
We exchange presents in the morning, and have the traditional roast turkey for lunch/early dinner, with Christmas pudding to follow. We might play a CD of Christmas music. There tend to be more nibbles about the place -- it's the only time of year we buy a box of chocolates -- and we may be somewhat more likely to have something alcoholic. And of course there's more seasonal stuff on TV.
Otherwise, Christmas is essentially the same as any other day around here, except there's no newspapers and no mail.
Our rubbish is collected on Thursdays, so that's been shifted to Saturday this week. Hope I remember.
