The drummer of the band I'm in and I recently had a disscussion on concerts that we've been to, and the things that make or break wether we go to one, like how I spent several days looking for floor tickets to see Slipknot. He and I share the idea that if we can't get to general seating and get to a spot that we like, we wont go. So the topic I'm posing is for people to list the shows they've been to and where they prefer to sit(or stand) and what they enjoy most about going. I'll start to give an example.

I've seen(in no particualr order)
All That Remains
Trivium
Kittie(3x)
Slipkont(2x)
Disturbed
Mastadoon
36 Crazyfists(4x)
Cradle of Filth
In This Moment(2x)
Walls of Jericho(2x)
Dragonforce
Machine Head
Suicide Silence
Underoath(unfortunatly)
Five Finger Death Punch
As I lay Dying
Evergreen terrace

And thats all I can think of at the moment. My preferences for shows tend to be that I am on the floor where I can move around, and depending on who is playing, I tend to enjoy mosh pits.

What was wrong with Underoath?

I prefer floor because you can go to the front if you want or stay back out of the pit. All concerts I've been to I prefer floor, no matter where it is or what concert. I prefer to move around, listing bands would be pointless seeing as I don't see how that matters...

(I wish I could post this in Innuendo bingo)... :P

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

With the people I hang out with, the list of groups you've seen count towards bragging rights. and what did I say that should land me in innuendo bingo?

And as for underoath, I can't stand the whole emo scene at all and being a christian band in a scene of kids who(at least around here) cut themselves(attention whores all) just makes no sense to me. I mean its like saying "I love Jesus" whilst running a razor blade down your arm. Its pointless. Also I don't care for thier singer and when I saw them at a festival last year, thier guitar work was unbearably sloppy and I met thier drummer, hes an a**hole

I have a terrible habit of some kind of incident whenever I go to concerts/gigs. Wherever I go I ALWAYS get standing tickets as the seats just aren't worth it in my opinion. I ALWAYS arrive very early for big gigs such as at Earls Court, MK Bowl or Wembley and I ALWAYS get in the pit/gold circle. For Hyde Park however it is always necessary to purchase gold circle tickets. Once I'm in the pit I like to be 2/3's to the back of the pit.

Now for my incidents!!

Subways - Bristol Academy - after travelling all that way I wanted to be at the front period!! (I live in Cambridge). Over enthusiastic teenage lads behind us caught me off guard when I had my arms in the air and I got crushed into the barrier cracking 2 ribs.

Subways - Welwyn Garden City exclusive invite only gig - fell out with my mate after gig back at B&B and decided to try to walk back home to Cambridge, got as far as Stevenage North where I fell asleep in a shelter on the platform and caught train home in the morning!!

Foo Fighters - Hyde Park - Ten minutes before Foo's came on heatstroke grabbed a proper hold of me and I had to make the decision to leave and go back to the hotel. Was shaking and wretching all way back to hotel (about 15mins walk) and when I got back I was violently ill within minutes and continued to be so for about 3 hours.

Muse - Wembley - thrown out in mistaken identity after bumping into someone at bottom of stairs. He was yelling at security I wasn't the guy (clearly someone had caused a problem earlier) but they ignored it and frog marched me out.

Jay Z & Linkin Park - MK Bowl - Dancing to Pendulum who were on the support bill I caught my foot on the edge of the pit barrier and twisted it in 2 different directions causing 2 stress fractures to the 3rd and 4th bones that run to the toe. We left the pit after about 2 hours just after Jay Z had finished as I was in major pain and we sat on the hill. My mate grabbed a St Johns crew and they stretchered me off!!

There are more, but you kind of get my point now don't you lol!!

I always like to stand at a concert, it makes me feel more involved.

Ok here's my rather mixed list of bands that I've seen.

Levellers,
3 Daft Monkeys,
Chieftains,
Clannad,
Bon Jovi,
Meatloaf,
Girls Aloud,
Boyzone,
Take That

It think that there might be a couple of others that I've forgotten.

Yea that happens alot. Most of my music is very underground heavy metal. Though Cradle and Dragonforce are both from the UK, and rarely make it here to the US so seeing them was quite the experience

I went out with a guy once who was a big Cradle of Filth fan, a rather strange bunch they are.

They are indeed a strange group but I love thier music. They put out a CD last year about the life and times of Giles De Rais(sp), a serial killer who fought alongside Joan of Arc and went crazy and started raping and killing children after she died. Very interesting subject matter

And anyone who has seen MC Hammer in my opinion is automatically awesome.

And yes, it has to be standing - except for Nick Cave's solo performance, which was quite the civilised experience. Oh, and Kodo too. That was culture, after all!

Too long to remember... but the guys that really impressed me were:

Rammstein (first gig, blinding stage show. thirty foot flames and simulated sodomy)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (well, yes)

Metallica (at Download festival - they played all of Master of Puppets back to back, which happened to be the first album I ever bought)

Amen (in a tiny gig down in Bristol, amazing stage presence from the little man - genuine political UK 1977-era punk, from a group of Americans in 200x)

Faust (late seventies kraut-rock pioneers... anyone who spreads cut grass before a gig, demolishes his set with a leaf strimmer and borrows a shirt from someone in the audience, whips out an ironing board, and irons it on top of an oil drum screaming "MUSIC!... MUSIC IS NOT SERIOUS!... THIS!... THIS IS SERIOUS!", all whilst the various sounds are being sampled and looped and the drummer pounding on random bits of metal... gets my vote)

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.
