Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak

"Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak
Somewhere in the town"

Errr, probably at the jail?!?

Some girls wander by mistake
Into the mess that scalpels make.
Are you the teachers of my heart?
We teach old hearts to break.

--Leonard Cohen, Teachers

They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin.

--Leonard Cohen, First we take Manhatten

Give me back my broken night
my mirrored room, my secret life
it's lonely here,
there's no one left to torture
Give me absolute control
over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby,
that's an order!
Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
and stuff it up the hole
in your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
it is murder.

--Leonard Cohen, The Future

... And just because I couldn't look myself in the eye unless I included some Bad Seeds:

And I came upon a little house
A little house upon a hill
And I entered through, the curtain hissed
Into the house with its blood-red bowels
Where wet-lipped women with greasy fists
Crawled the ceilings and the walls
They filled me full of drink
And led me round the rooms
Naked and cold and grinning
Until everything went black
And I came down spinning
I awoke so drunk and full of rage
That I could hardly speak
A fag in a whale-bone corset
Draping his dick across my cheek
And its into the shame
And its into a guilt
And its into the * fray
And the walls ran red around me
A warm arterial spray
Saying

Papa won't leave you, Henry... (etc.)

--Nick Cave, Henry's Dream

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Tramps like us, baby we were born to ruuuun... The Boss

And you can have it all, my empire of dirt... Nine Inch Nails

59th Street Bridge Song
"Slow down, you're moving too fast,
You've got to make the morning last
Just kicking down on the cobbled stones,
Looking for fun and feeling groovy

Hello Lamp post,
Watcha knowin
I've come to watch your flowers growing,
Aint ya got no rymes for me?
Feeling Groovy

I've got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep,
Let the morning tide drop all its pebbles on me,
Life I love you
All is groovy

Simon and Garfunkle

Saw REM live. I was almost in tears for:

It's the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine) and also Mano on the Moon.

Emotion wise, 'Who Wants to Live Forever' by Queen is great as is a lot of other REM stuff, Bad Day especially.

Song Lyrics I just love... Most of George Hrab's stuff, fecking hilarious!!!

Terrorvision - Middleman

You know I couldn't be me, if it wasn't for you,
I feel like s*** and look like plastic, but I'll get through

Terrorvision - Oblivion
(If you've heard this once then I guarantee you're humming it now :D. Go on .. "Ooh wop bop ba doo wop. Bop ba doo wop. Bop ba doo)

If all the people in the world camped out in your back garden,
Would you write and tell the king or would you grab a tent and join 'em,
I can see that all the possibilities for freedom,
Could just sway your first decision to subject them all to oblivion.

Catatonia - Mulder and Scully

I'd rather be liberated, I find myself captivated
Stop doing what you . . . Keep doing it too . . .
I'd rather stay bold and lonely, I dream I'm your one and only
Stop doing what you . . . Keep doing it too . . .
Things are getting strange, I'm starting to worry
This could be a case for Mulder and Scully

Manic Street Preachers - A Design For Life

Libraries gave us power
Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity

I wish I had a bottle
Right here in my dirty face to wear the scars
To show from where I came

We dont talk about love we only want to get drunk
And we are not allowed to spend
As we are told that this is the end

"you could believe..they put a hand on the moon..."

making it a goosing-based song, rather than about the death of a great comedian...
