I'm surprised that a minor or spent conviction would debar someone. I thought that the enhanced CRB check was more about statutory violent offences or offences against children or vulnerable people?

It usually goes to review depending on the job you are going for. Minor offenses can be ignored, as can convictions unrelated to teaching. But then some schools may use it differently. If you have committed a crime of any nature should you be allowed to teach children. The crime may not seem relevant to their job in education, but there is the worry that this may be someone who is not morally suitable to teaching.

I grew up in east & south east london and got nicked dozens of times for minor crimes, arson, twoc etc always got off with it - unlike alot of the old crowd who are currently staying at her majestys leasure.

I'd love to say it was magic that got me out of that game but i cant - it took a good kickin' and 6 weeks in hospital & the death of a good friend, but still im here now so every cloud & that

take it from someone who knows all knives have to be in a secure bag & in a sheath. If you are stopped always make it clear you have it, that way you wont get done.
