Might be particularly apt for any members in the Midlands area.
(once again I'm a bit peeved as I'm due elsewhere that weekend!)

There are more details and a piccie on www.magicweek.co.uk. It's good to see the Beeb doing a 'proper' programme on Magic, I only hope they're doing something to celebrate the centenary of both the British Magical Society and the Magic Circle next year. I've e-mailed and written with some strong hints but only had formula 'thanks and we'll pass it on' type replies so far.

Derren Brown Magic Special - Now listed as Mind Control 3

Even though some of the items have been shown over and over, and are on the DVD, it was great to see the whole show again. (Especially the Spearmint Rhino section - finest example of misdirection ever seen!)

I'm surprised that there's been no mention of this before (perhaps I missed it?) - I only saw it in the TV magazine last night and I forgot to check magicweek until today!

As if they hadn't learned from the fiasco of the August 2003 first show, the Beeb are happy to make the same mistake again:

Saturday 22.1.05 Secrets of Magic II BBC1 6.50pm

"Nick Knowles introduces a team of magicians who perform incredible illusions all over the UK before revealing the secrets of how the magic was done."

After the last one, several magicians were drummed out of the Magic Circle. Also, it was an awful quizzy type show where even the celebs (?) couldn't hide their boredom. Should be really worth watching  !

(Details courtesy of magicweek - as usual!)

I seem to recall being one of the few who enjoyed the last one, I thought that the fanciful ways that the effects were achieved were worth showing just for the comedy value! Admittedly the 'celebs' looked as if they were only doing it cos they had nothing else better to do.

That's how I remember it as well - so bad it was good and the way the celebs took the mickey (especially Leslie Grantham!) was priceless!

Shame they decide to do this in Centenary Year for the Magic Circle and the British Magical Society.

According to Mrs.M, this programme was featured on Richard & Judy this afternoon. Not sure who was interviewed (must get Mrs.M a notepad and pencil in future!) but it might have be John Lennahan and he mentioned that he'd been booted out of the Magc Circle after the last one.

One effect is 'Any Drink Called For' where the first explanation involves an assistant and a length of tubing down the sleeve to deliver the required drinks! A performance of 'Find The Lady' was done and it has to be said that John (if it was John) was very skillful - doing the biz much faster than the human eye can spot.

IT was John Lenahan, a magician who i had met, and thought i could trust NOT to expose the secrets. Well, never mind.
