Ian the ever changing Ian

Having watched the series so far I have to admit to enjoying the Mentalist and find it light hearted and fun entertainment.

I have to admit to enjoying the Mentalist as well. But, in interest of full disclosure, I do prefer Psych. Lie to Me has grown on me also - have not yet seen Mental but am slightly intrigued by previews.

Yeah I love the Mentalist and for the most part I love it simply because it has no real bearing on reality.

I mean Mentalist vs pickup artist at a posh resort for millionaires... I also love how he hates HATES sham artists even tho he was one himself.

Lie to me... Well that guy lives near me :P the one the whole show is based off of. He's the sweetest guy and his skills are beyond scary but the show itself just makes me hate the guy.

Mental I saw the premier but to be honest eh ... there is no draw to me the subject matter being what I have degree's in takes itself to seriously. I suppose House does too the GF and I take bets on, "Allergic reaction, seizure, or blood clot?"

At least Jane runs around messing with people and is actually entertaining :)

Psyche was too slapsticky but I'd love to get a professional Mentalist and sit down and watch the show and compare notes for where behaviorism and mentalism are both wrong. Obviously he abuses trances far to much. If it were possible to hypnotize that many people in that dynamic of a way so consistently we would all be in trouble.

I've just seen the pilot of Psyche and it does look quite good. It's very different from The Mentalist, which I still prefer. You'd have to go a long way to beat Patrick Jane :D

Psyche gets better and better and funnier and funnier as the series goes on.

(don't bingo me on that)

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Have any of the mentalist out there seen your bookings increase because of the show?

We have had a few more lay people ask if we do "mentalist type stuff" in the shop and gone on to say they wanted to learn some of the things the guy in the show had done referring to the character starting off as a fake psychic.

Also being a mentalist myself I have had more interest in my advertising than usual. Not bookings just "oh you're like the guy on that program?"

Have yet to watch the show which is slowly filling up my Sky+ box but any show that brings what is relatively an unused term like mentalist to the lay public while loosely describing what one does has got to be good.

Agreed Kenny, even though we blast the Masked Magician shows, they have brought more bookings to some professionals and, as originally intended, forced some to step out of the tired old routines and do something fresh. There's always a silver lining  !

Never mind the mentalist or masked magician, I only seem to get more bookings when the jolly green giant is on TV advertising the sweet corn

I was looking forward to The Mentalist but lost interest about halfway through the first episode.

Lie to Me is hardly a deathless classic, but entertaining enough to keep watching. It would be better if they damped down the attempts at humour, though. I'm always slightly disappointed that, even with Asperger's and everything, I seem to be able to read the people faster than the expert. Surely I should be standing in awe?
