You will of course need to contact them, you may like to go to one of their open meeting first, this is a meeting open to non members and would give you the opportunity to meet a good number of them. To actually join you will need to perform a short routine to the group at a meeting, which if your shy can be tricky, though in your case might be ok since you say your not shy on stage :) For this to happen they need to know you want to join and a date will be pre arranged. You will of course also need to check membership fees etc.

Your best bet is not to ask us, but to give the secretary of Ilford Magical Society (John Penrose?) a ring and discuss it with him.

I suspect you will find them all a very friendly bunch. I believe that they had Andy Nyman lecturer ealrlier this year and amongst others they will be getting Jay Scott Berry.

According to their website, to join you must be over 16, must attend three meetings and will have an interview.

On approval of your membership, you must perform a trick or a talk on your interests in magic for five minutes.

For further information Contact the President or Andy Fairbairn (ok, so not the secretary).

Although Magic Societies aren't for everyone, I personally haven't looked back, and I suspect that you will find it a truly enriching experience. Good luck - and let us all know how you get on.
