So... place your bets...

How long before the tabloids begin speculating about Matt Smith's departure and replacement? ;)

By co-incidence, over the holdiay I watched a recording of Matt in Shadow From The North which also starred Billie Piper. He can certainly act and, as was mentioned on the Who Confidential on Saturday, he can easily portray older characters than his 26 years. As Pete has mentoned, just about every actor in these new series of Dr.Who has generated concerns, disapprovals and finally accolades. David Tennant was written off by many as soon as his appointment to the role was publicised and he certainly acted the critics out of sight. Bear in mind that the actor is only one facet, the stories, the effects, the music and the supporting actors can all make or break a show. I reckon Matt will do well in the role so let's give it until the end of his first series before judging.

True. I'm more excited about having Moffat at the helm than anything else.

Hmmm Matt Smith will hold judgement on that one.
I was hoping that it was going to be Doctor Donna or Rose.
Least we have David for a couple of months before he goes.

Regards

Spanky.

PS Oh my god Demons how rubbish is that.

Very pleased with the new doctor, and also quite entertained by demons. First episode showed promise. Quite hopeful all in all. :D

Don't forget they've got that half-human David Tennant in an alternative universe, that they can wheel out for the occasional one-off story.

The mighty swami predicts: Matt Smith & Donna "here's your memory back, oh my god you're the doctor" episode early on just to gel together the old and the new.

I met Matt on Ruby in the smoke,he was a very nice, polite & humble young man with excellent acting skills - watching him doing retakes was great to watch for every take he always added something different to the acting compared to the previous take, unless it was for a different camera angle for the same scene then he would repeat his mannerisms, tonality and posture identically everytime.

Sadly i missed the second part of the Sally Lockheart mysteries over christmas.

I think Matt will make a good Doctor Who,the best is yet to come regarding the show now Mr Moffat has his hands on the reigns and alot scarier too i imagine if his previous Who episodes are anything to go by

"The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" (Series 1)
"The Girl in the Fireplace" (Series 2)
"Blink" (Series 3)
"Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead" (series 4)

Pete said it best regarding the previous casting choices and they proved most Whovians wrong.

Heres a promotion picture with me in it for Ruby in the smoke

I love the Sally Lockhart series of books ("Tiger in the Well" is in my opinion better than "Northern Lights", which is saying something). I just wish more time had been spent on promoting the TV adaptations. I doubt we'll see any more being adapted for TV in the near future which is a real shame.

Which are you in the pic Caffa?

I agree Mr Wand The Sally Lockheart novels are excellent reading and yes it has been rather under promoted regarding the TV adaptaion of the books, who said the spice girls was the first ones to do girl power

Im third on the left in the picture - sadly not the dashing hunk in the middle but my false beard is sexier than he could ever be

I posted a pic of me wearing that attire in this thread here http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic27717-0-asc-0.php
