Was it REALLY that great?

Postby Drewmcadam » Nov 23rd, '09, 02:05

Was it REALLY that great?

Well, yes, actually. The only problem was, there were so many people there, and I had such little time to talk to everybody. I would have LOVED to have had more time just to chat. Wouldn't that have been great?

I didn't have time to find out who most of the attendees were, and it was only slowly - very slowly - that I started to piece it together after it was all over!

Sure, going to the pub afterwards - and the meal - was superb. But, honestly? Too loud. Too short. With a two - three day convention we could all have more time to mix-and-mingle. And I would LOVE that.

I learned more and picked up more tips in half an hour of chatting than I have in the past year.

Brilliantly organised. Superb running order - apart from the pratt who closed the whole thing - I mean, what was THAT all about?

Unfortunately, I had just come off three gigs in a row, and had only three hours of sleep before I had to catch the plane down to TM. I was on the verge of exhaustion - and won't make THAT mistake next time, I can assure you. Every moment is just too good to miss.

Well done Dr Todd and the hard-working organisers; there was more picked up from that meeting than you will ever know!

Another excellent TM day. I thoroughly enjoyed all the lectures (although my wallet took a bit of a hammering). I agree that Paul's was probably the best event of the day (and there was some tough competition). The time flew by, and I was half convinced that the windows were going to blow in at an opportune moment during the lecture.

I also agree with Drew that there was an awful lot crammed into the day, and it would have been nice to have had a little more time to catch up with friends or meet new people, but I think that the organisers did a very good job, and cramming as much in as possible was probably better than leaving out talks.

As usual, huge thanks to Todd, Roni, Steve, and Evie. Also thanks to bananafish for the lift to the station, which meant I stayed pretty much dry for most of my journey back. Shame that the roads were under water by the time I had to walk the last bit home. :?

Glad I got to sit next to you Lyndon, as I didn't realise who you were at the last meeting.

Indeed, it was a fun day/ I loved Drew's lecture at the end, and really enjoyed Ian Rowland's performance.

I obviously loved being in Evie's performance as well ;)

Tomo wrote:I think special mention should go to Lozey. It's damned nerve wracking being up in front of that lot, especially when things go wrong, so well done. More people should do so. When I lectured, I did the Naked Coin Prediction and someone on the front row insisted on ignoring my careful force and had only a couple of shiny new coins in his hand. And David Berglas was waiting to go on after me. Nightmare!

Thanks for that Tomo, I actually had a 5-6 minues for the full lecture of Mamba Shamptis hand effect including where to buy the hands cheaply and how to advertise the effect at various locations. I was also going to mention my e book that the routine comes from. When I looked up to a sea of confused / disinterested faces, I just moved right on, maybe it was a little too 'out there' for people to get behind it. It seems they want to concentrate on the mentalism at TM rather than bizarre

I'd worked all through the night on Friday to get all my effects and the grindshow ready. I was also in a fair amount of pain with my legs and back from being sat for so long (3 hour journey that morning) and having to cart all my cases up 4 flights of stairs (no lift :( ). I'm sure that didn't exactly help with my concentration when performing

I wish we'd have had a little more time to hang out. I didnt even know Beardy was there  name badges like last time would have been a good idea. I would rather have had fewer/ shorter lectures and not had to rush breaks. Like some others, I had to opt to miss lunch in order to set out my effects

There are also some really bad ones! Who on earth is that stupid old man in the purple shirt and black waistcoat making idiotic faces to the camera? He obviously has no dignity. Honestly.
