Hi m8, I am not sure how much use I can be to you, as I am in the same boat as you.
Ammar's Introduction to Coin Magic seems to be one of the favourites to get started. I can't comment as I haven't got this.
I do have Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic, and I have put it on the shelf for the time being.
I have just brought Ian Kendal's Basic coin magic on vcd. It set me back £10 as opposed to £20+ for the Ammar dvd.
This only really teaches you moves, but Ian Kendal does have a great teaching style - so highly recommended.
I am sure other more experienced magi will give you their opinions, but I would probably go for the Ian Kendal or Ammar titles, and leave the Sankey dvd for later.
