Hi folks,
A long time ago, in a land far far away...
I was a bartender on some swanky cocktail bars, and when things were quiet I played around with some basic bar tricks... mostly the kind of things that could blow a drunk's mind, but wouldn't stand up under the closest of sober scrutiny.
For a long time those skills lay dormant, and then I saw a certain Todd Various performing up in Edinburgh and it was the spark I needed to get back into magic.
A few months, 4 packs of bikes, a few home-made gaffs and a purchase of the Royal Road to Card Magic later and I've finally got enough material I'm happy with to do a very short performance... nothing too adventurous, of course. I had a request to show a few tricks after Christmas Dinner - well, it's traditional to stuff your first routine up in front of family (or in this case - the missus' family), isn't it!
All went well, except for one I made a COMPLETE hash of - but having read that it's always good to have an "out" - I fell back on it and ended well. Hands shaking like a leaf and a bit annoyed that I made such a stupid mistake, but happy enough. The next one will be better (and the small 1 on 1 performance for my cousin went flawlessly).
I got a set of Bazar de Magia aluminium Cups and Crocheted Balls (with gimmicked cup and ball for Chop Cup) as a gift from my girlfriend and have spent about half of today practising with them. Great fun.
If you know much/anything about Cups and Balls, please check out my thread asking for info in the Miscellaneous section.
