Just been watching the tv, and in it David Blaine asks 6 people for a number between 1 and 54, he then takes out a lottery ticket from his back pocket; and the numbers match perfectly.

Is this trick currently on the market? Because it is some powerful stuff

if you are not careful, you will eventually find yourself in a whirlpool of desire...that you'll be forever looking out for answers to things you may well already know...

it will cost you money, anguish and dissapointment...

develop your knowledge, your thought processes and save that money, and spend it on fine wines and cakes instead

Re: the whirlpool of desire: You only have to look at some of the more desperate threads (on other forums, usually) relating to new, unreleased effects. Everyone seems to get terribly excited and I can only assume it's because they hope that the method will be something new and almost magical. Of course, it will not be. It will be the usual tawdry stuff and the magic will only ever happen for the spectators (if they are lucky). It is our destiny to know only dodgy dealings and shyster antics.

Eshy, give me your email address and I shall send over a small article by Darwin Ortiz. It should hopefully address your urge for buying up effects and moving on to the next best thing...

Firstly, I spend my money on nothing except magic. It is my opium. I survive on a diet of milk, KFC and toast (autism means I cannot eat anything else, though I am in surprisingly good shape) and I'm afraid of driving.

Secondly, is it stooged? If so then I have no interest in the effect.

Thirdly, I am trying to think up a method of how it could have been done without stooges, but so far they have all been ridiculous, except the stooge effect.

It reminds me greatly of my favourite effect ever: Derren Brown - Phone Magic, where a randomly called person says the serial number on a bill.

Most of what David Blaine does is unpublished "underground" stuff. He does do some things that can be bought. But a lot of the other stuff is usually created by his consultants and the Paul Harris group.

As for the lottery effect, There are a bunch of Lottery effects out there. Most are for stage and a few of them are either cheap or expensive to do. For now I'd suggest just using what you've already got.

Yes it is a marketed effect - costs about £80 I think? I can't remember exactly, or the name of it...

No it is a completely different method to derren's phone serial number effect, which is realistically for stage only

tom - lets not go asking for "how is this done"...

as i've said, if you study properly, i mean reading and re-reading books over and over, taking notes, testing out ideas and methods - refining...and then doing it all over again...then you'll uncover all kinds of fantastic stuff...but just going on a magic-hunt (dont say that quickly please) - wont teach you a thing...

spend your money on the osterlind 13 steps dvd, there you go...there's a challenge for you - there's a fantastic lottery prediction in there that'll be even better and more realistic looking than blaines...

and with those dvds, the book, and annemann, go and spend at least four months working through them all...and see what you discover...

ahhhh annemann and 13 steps....

I never really got to grips with mr annemann, but whenever you read 13 steps you will always find something new...

Yeah, PMM is fun but 13 Steps is gold. I flicked through it a few weeks back and an answer to a problem that had been bugging me for weeks just popped out and solved everything. Best £20 I ever spent.
