Thankyou everyone for all your responses. You have helped to put my mind at ease, as this has bothered me for many years, and much more the past few months. I had looked everywhere online for information regarding this, to work out whether it were only a trick, or not some genuine "gift" he may possess, and you don't know how relieved i am to hear your responses and also for finding this very helpful forum..x

if anyone ever tells you that they know when people are going to die either through paper, cards, or tarot...they are genuinely lying...

ask yourself this question - if it were true, it would be a simple case for that person or anyone for that matter to avoid all harmful and negative accidents/problems and other such things...cos they'd just "know" and tear up a bit of paper or make the scent of roses appear from nowhere....'something'...

if you meet anyone like that again - punch them in their stupid face, and then laugh, telling them they should have known when that will happen..

Absolutely I couldn't agree more. T
hese skills in themselves are neutral they can be used to entertan or to lead astray as we all know.

The guy is a s*** bag for being so irresponsible, however I can't help but admire him for leaving such a lasting impression on sidneey. It's just a shame they're not fond memories.

I think I had better step in here since I come across this all the time. I am a professional psychic and often come across clients who are worried stiff because some other irresponsible so called "psychic" has churned out this nonsense. I can tell Sindeey now that no psychic genuine or otherwise can tell you when you are going to die. Only God knows that.

The danger with this kind of thing is that it can set up a self fulfilling prophecy and the worry of it can almost make someone die with the sheer apprehension. Or at least make them very ill.

One other thing. NOBODY can read your mind, even a genuine psychic. It just can't be done. The most a psychic can do is get "vibes", for want of a better word, about you and what is affecting or worrying you. They can also get "vibes" or perhaps a better word is "feelings" about the best way to solve your problems.

And one other thing. Genuine psychics are not generally the ones you see on television.

And remember a psychic can't see everything. It is a bit like looking through frosted glass. You see glimpses but you don't see everything.

As Mark Lewis said I wanted to tell you that it's happened that people died when a "reader of minds" said it will die but it's because they believed that. And maybe you don't know but the brain controls our body and what we believe that it's happens. That's why the placebo effect works. So as long as you don't believe what a crook says you are fine ;))

I don't think this was a CT but rather a Switch... but then I have never bought into the CT, not since the first time I saw it done.

For similar reasons, I have to second what Mark has said here. But I must also point out that many that have been around a while or who studied under an old timer, probably learned the old Cradle to Grave style of Reading which is why we find such "stumbling" -- it's typically someone trying to get their footing on things and don't know better; they've piece milled the "how to do it" side of things.

Regardless, it is dangerous and even when done in ignorance, can bring about some seriously negative consequences. Then again, this is something most charlatan types are very much aware of and deliberately exploit when suckering in their marks by stating they are cursed, haunted, etc. :?

It sounded like a switch to me too.

It don't think the O.P would forget to say that ," he then tore up the pieces and burned them", because the tearing up, strengthens the over all effect.

"handing the billets back, before he lit them?" That does kind of say all you need to know.

And i bet the matches or lighter came from, and were returned to, the same pocket. :D

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Know that psychic do not exist - nobody can tell you when you will die, and if you panic too much that may affect your health anyway!

Relax, smile, go for a nice meal and night out, rip your will up, and have a good day :D

Ok, let's not get nasty with our personal point of view. Some folks do believe to the contrary (most folks actually) and we do have people on this forum that work from the Old School perspectives tied to Mentalism

Yes, as Mark and I have both pointed out, some of the shut-eye types can be quite rude and too, those that are inexperienced are prone to say some really stupid stuff. BUT, if they actually learn how to READ and work with the oracle they claim to be using, they will not be able to given pin-point answers of that sort, not even in palmistry, which actually gives you a means by which to gauge a persons longevity (more so than most of the other systems).

Magicians shouldn't state things as "fact" when they haven't actually studied or worked with a given area of discipline. I can assure you, there's a huge difference between what we do as a Reader vs. the theory of Cold Reading...

If you go by the standard route of ethics promoted by the yesteryear masters, ours is not to state as fact one way or the other but to allow the public the right to choose for themselves and believe as they will.

Actually one guy can predict when and if you will die. It is this guy.
