General question about Kids Parites...

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

pcwells writes, in part: ". . . Much of his act involves embarrassing the kids, . . ."
Good point; probably the Number One point to be made for BOTH kids' and adults" entertainers is NEVER humiliate or embarass a member of the audience.
And that applies no matter WHAT :!:

I have seen Chris Capeheart work live and I can see what everyone is getting at. He is not my cup of tea either but to be fair to him I think his real venue is the street. He is a busker par excellence and although I saw him do his show in another environment I suspect his style would go over brilliantly as a street magician.

That agressiveness with the kids and the general style is something that you would need in the street rather than a sedate living room.

Wow I never thought this thread wold take off as much as it did, but thanks to everyone for your thoughts, advice and opinions.

I initailly looked at the fact that on an average night in TGI'S working I'd get asked and offered about 5 kids parties, but declined them all.

It seems like a good avenue to try and see how it goes... if anything for some major experience benefit. I've voluenteered my services once again through the Police at an afterschool club which involves about 30mins magic and then spending some time with the enthusiastic kids teaching them some basic tricks.

Purchased "stand-up magic for kids" by Bill Abbott as the Chico the Mind Reading Monkey looks cool and something I can use for adults and re-write a script for them.

Anyway, I'll see how it goes and post up a response in a month then I've practiced and braved the performance.

Cheers
JJ
