Well, it's all getting very close now isn't it? Mrs Wizz is making sure I am packed on time and I am reinforcing my credit card for the onslaught.

I will be arriving in Blackpool at 12.40 on Friday and have to make my way to Talbot Square from South Staion to check in to my hotel. So I will be around from early afternoon. I presume it is sensible to register as soon as possible, is there anything else to do with the afternoon and if not which pub will everyone be in?

There's usually a queue so register asap and then a swift first visit to the Dealer Hall is a must! There are events in the afternoon as per the programme published on the BMC website.

Dude, you need to be at north station if your staying in talbot square - its the next stop on the line. 2 minutes by train or a 30 minute walk, or a five quid taxi ride...

I'll be going this year for the third time. I'll be all on my lonesome so would be good to meet up with people for a few drinks.

I don't think the train goes any futher than South Station. I know its a drag but I opted for the cheapest fare I could find coupled to the best timing to arrive and this was it. Going home again my train goes from North so I am ok

Ah I see then. The south station is at the Pleasure beach, which is the bottom end of the golden mile. The convention and Talbot st etc is at the top end of the golden mile!

From the age of 4 to 14 my parents took us to Blackpool for a week every August. This was pretty well unheard of "down south" in Oxford in the 50s and 60s.

So once upon a time I knew Blackpool pretty well. However, I have not been there since 1965 and I am very interested to see how much it has changed. Hugely is my guess.
