I doubt he has "respect for magic".

He did appear on the gadget show.... ohh that makes me cringe.

To be fair though, performing on Sport Relief in front of millions is one hell of a good thing to put on a CV :D .

About the whole 'respect for magic' thing, I remember Daniel Garcia once saying something along the lines of: "At the end of the day you're performing for a beach and you have to ignore that grain that is the magic community." Which does make a load of sense.

Dynamo has done well, and I'm sure he hasn't had the easiest path to get to where he is today. As a magician he doesn't do much for me, but, by the sound of things laymen love him, and I guess that's all that matters...or not.

Laymen also love the Masked Magician according to the Fox records.

The Laymen make then rules, they are the audience...the Laymen are ALWAYS right !!!.. They are paying you. I personally dont like his style of performance. He's a very VERY talented magician by the looks, interesting to watch. He seemed very nervous last night and I though his performance was empty and dull..presenters seemed to struggle to bump up the energy..the energy of the show dropped when he came on, I dont think thats a good thing. He obviously has a very good agent and has a style not many other people are doing. He's doing good, leave him to it :)

In the interest of balance, I also thought fearne was also not up to her usual standard :p

but seriously, my post wasn't meant to be against him as a magician, he's very talanted

The first trick was a bit lame however the trick where he balanced all his weight on one foot was cool. Is that just somethink you need to be strong to do or is that gimmicked in someway :?

I know that on the day it would have been chaos in the studio & the producers probably sweped him to one side with no time for rehearsal so the bad framing may not have been his fault. He still could've told the floor manager what he was going to be doing & that a wider shot should be used. He looked like he had set up the 'showing the signatures shot' though which was good.

I think his agent is a genius but he does always come across like a kid who got a magic set on Christmas morning & is performing by Christmas afternoon. Probably a really nice guy though.

Yeah, I don't know what production company was behind the show (it would be shocking if it was BBC) but a lot went wrong that night, even for a live show. Cameras weren't doing what they were supposed to do (making amateur mistakes even for scripted parts), microphones weren't being turned on (and audience microphones were far too loud), presenters didn't know what on earth was going on at times, and whoever thought fearne cotton dancing to Call On Me in a short dress was a good idea obviously weren't thinking very much. Actually, that clip also showed how the sound guy must've been on a teabreak at that time...

Normally the very idea of a young lady prancing about in a short skirt would bring a glint to my eye but having watched the first few minutes of the clip, I can only agree it was wrong, wrong, so very wrong! In fact the only thing more wrong was the sight of Patrick Kielty in those yellow speedos over a black leotard - put me right off me dinner :? !

I agree, I think his performance style is VERY.. dull. He is a good magician, but he forgets that it's about entertainment and bewilderment.
I also agree that performing for 'the fraternity' is wrong, but I don't think that there is neccerily a two-fold choice- perform for the piblic or perform for magicians, I think the two can be catered for- but should one try that approach, the latter must never compromise the former, if that makes any sense to anyone.

All this talk on Dynamo.......

Nobody mentioning Paul Daniels (and the lovely Debbie MacGee's!) cameo in the Ashes To Ashes spoof?? I only saw it on Youtube but it was great to see some of the TV icons of the 80s on the box again!
