I have probably missed the answer to this somewhere.

Are the cards going to be avaiable on their own? Having bought the whole effect I need new cards not the book as well. My box is coming to the end of its natural life due to the nuimber of times it is hauled out of my pocket.

With regard to the markings they are certainly a challenge. But with practice I can get 100% and there is no way the uninitiated will get them if they sit and stare at them solidly for a month!

Magic Box do sell 'refills' of just the cards and box on their own however like the main pack themselves, they are sold out until the new print run is done. It's best to email them to check if they'll be available as a 'refill' again when the new stock comes in.

Just to be sure, I've not missed this have I?

I did kindly receive an email telling me I would be informed when they were in stock but this was in January and between junk mail and my missus I just want to be sure.

I do not have the original release so will want the book aswell so hopefully will still be able to buy it as such.

Mine arrived this morning!

Couldn't find them in the UK so ordered them from a European dealer. More expensive for sure but I have been using the ESP effect from International Magic for 20 years and was troubled by the system (ie it was too easily discovered).

These are great - the gimmick is incredibly subtle!

Lucky you. :)

As an update, I was talking about this with Michael at the southshields convention a few weeks back. Rest assured things are in motion, and they will be getting them back in stock.

Its being held up, due to reasons beyond anybodys control. :)

Beyond ESP

Postby roddy » Apr 29th, '10, 11:13

I recently took out these out of the drawer and was surprised to see how easy they were to read. I think the break has done me good and I would point out that I wear reading glasses

I am still occasionally reading them wrong (10% of the time) - and am therefore not yet comfortable using them.

However I do remember Andy Nyman explaining, (I think in his lecture notes),that he once fowled up a mentalism effect in a restaurant / party /bar setting and he blamed the noise for ruining his concentration. This admission converted one of the skeptics in the audience that what he was doing was real. So it might pay to be fallible and not 100% the whole time...

Just a thought.

I quite agree. Mentalism can appear stronger for near misses and the occasional failure. As always presentation is the thing

I even have an anecdote about Beyond ESP 2 and missing - and getting a good reaction.
I had asked four or five people to project their chosen images to me mentally and I read the first image correctly but missed on the next two. This is because it was really quite dark in the bar we were in and I made basic mistakes.
I got it right with the last gentleman and, to my surprise, he shouted, "I did it!" So, due to the presentation, he had bought into the idea of projecting the image completely. My earlier failures were, at least in his head, the failures of the other participants. They obviously had not projected their images well enough :)

Amazing, though really not surprising, to still see this thread going strong!

Just goes to show what a true modern-day classic BESP2 really is.

One standing ovation in Mr. Murray's general direction - more like this, please sir! :D

Re Beyond ESP2

It's been quite frustrating at this end, the USPCC had lost the original artwork resulting in scans of the computers to find the relevant artwork. We have pieced together enough info to have them re-printed and the wheels are firmly in motion.

I was hoping to have these ready for this years Blackpool but for reasons beyond our control there have been a few set backs.

The printing itself has been passed to another branch of the USPCC and I had to laugh when they queried the back designs asking why they needed to be paired up. They didn't believe me when I told them they were marked!

Rest Assured I'll let everyone know as soon as we get them or feel free to e-mail me at info@magicbox.uk.com and I'll let you know personally!

In the meantime I do have several other ideas released for you to look at!

Best Wishes to all!

Kind Regards Michael

Michael demmed the prototype to me in southshields, and its a very strong reveal.

and Resonance.

Again, i saw the prototype up in southshields, and this has quite a lot of possibilities.
It's a multi stage effect dealing with deep seated hidden emotions.

not only does it hit the viewer at a personal level, It also gives the performer the perfect excuse to follow on with some readings.
