I did. Regurgitated suger and all. Heres the clip I saw years ago.

Slightly off topic but seeing this again also reminded me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM_qbg3u ... re=related
which I saw at around the same time.

It might work for other things, but I'd wager that him swallowing the pool ball is a trick otherwise you'd see him standing there choking to death.

Eshly, I read threads and threads that you've derailed by whining on over exposure and how an audience is going to go looking up your tricks. Quite frankly it's getting boring and I'm sure that other people are as fed up with it as I am. Either get over it or get out of magic but accept that other people know what they're talking about more than you do.

And to get back on topic, I missed BGT last night so I'll have to see if it's repeated on ITV2 and watch this.

I think the whole exposure thing is overblown - yes, there will be a small number of nerdy types who look things up but when they tell their friends they've 'found out how the magician did that trick', the chances are that their friends won't really care!

Also, as a previous poster pointed out (alliteration alert!), if a bit of digging persuades someone to go and buy a magic book and start learning a few things than surely that is a good thing - no, actually it's a brilliant thing!

In my experience (and that's something that you freely admit you lack, Tom) people really aren't interested in how something's done. For sure they might ask you but I always find it best to say something along the lines of "Anyone can do it, you've just got to learn how". A couple of times someone has come back to me and said they have found out how I did a trick they've seen previously - no problem, just show them something else!

Can I point out that the exposure topic was NOT started by me here. Someone mentioned me by name and what I thought this meant with exposure and so on, so I replied.

I have no intention of trying to drive this off-topic.

I've seen Stevie Starr live a couple of times. It's genuinely quite fantastic that he's been able to do the same act, pretty much unchanged, year after year. He was a regular on The Last Resort with Jonathan Ross. I heard part of his turn from BGT on LBC and was that surprised that he'd do the show that I wondered if it was someone ripping off his act. I suspect his appearance has more to do with PR for his live work than any will to win the contest.

There was a very interesting article in Magic Magazine last year about the famous names of magic in the States being INVITED onto America's Got Talent to get people talking and boost ratings.

Most who had been on AGT stated afterwards that they wishes that they hadn't done it and had ended up feeling exploited by the show.

I can't really imagine that Stevie Starr hust rolled up and queued with everyone else to audition, given that he and his act have appeared all over the world and has been on TV many times. He was recently in the World's Top 100 Magic Tricks programe on C4 with his goldfish routine.

I'll hazard a guess that his next appearance will be with the said goldfish which will give the judges the opportunity to vote him off and perhaps expose the whole appearance as a setup.

Is BGT therefore going the same way as AGT in using stooges? We'll wait and see.

Stevie Starr has toured the length and breath of Ireland and England for years, and is very well known. His act is a great crowd pleaser. I am sure there is a mix of genuine and trickery in it, but that hardly matters. What matters is his show entertains. People feel better for having seen him. I am delighted that a solid act like this is getting this exposure - even if it is on a tawdry wannabe show like this.

Its a very strange act. What does he do with it? Its ammusing for five minutes, but what about after that?

I'm sure its a wonderful talent, but I think the best talent he has is finding a way to make it entertaining.

ummmm, Stevie Star is a regugitator, and what he does.... isn't a trick.

Like Sword swallowing, Regurgitation acts train their bodies to do extraordinary things for real.

google regurgitators, and waterspouters. Youtube Hadji Ali.

Ali was a reguritator in the 1930s. He was so popular, he appeared in a film with Laurel And Hardy. His party piece was swallowing a vast amount of Kerosene, and water, then spouting them out to order.

For some reason this kind of act flourished in Malta.
