To all Beginner Magicians one word of advice RELAX !!

Postby magicjames » Apr 23rd, '05, 20:01

Hi guys,
To all newbie magicians the one thing i will tell you is to relax.
If your trick is very hard and if your not carefull the audience can see, RELAX!!

Being relaxed means your auidence will be relaxed with you meaning there not going to be looking for every move you make.

If a trick goes REALLY BAD always keep cool and relaxed.
I say always have a back up plan some way you can finish the trick without making a fool of your self.

So study your trick before you show it to the genral public.

But always relax, i used to panic and it would get me no where and trust me it went wrong

So always relax and you can't go wrong
Regards
James

James,

You are quite right. Relax. And that should come from repeated practice of what you are doing.

I practice until I've gone through every way an effect can go wrong (in front of a mirror) and then because most of my performing is in pubs when I've had a drink I also practice at home when I've had a drink till I know that I can do the effect drunk or sober :?

I'm a snooker fan, and right now I'm glued to the TV for 2 weeks of snooker (the World championships) and I sit in front of the TV doing sleights. Its the only way to be good at what you want to do.

This is very true, you have to relax and do it, but to let you into a secret I was not too relaxed in my early days, I was so tense I was almost strung out!!!

Now I am so relaxed I feel I can do anything with my audience, and that comes with confidence, I am so confident I can deal with anything that they can throw my way!!! :)
