I used to hear speeches denouncing the Pope all the time in Northern Ireland when I sold svengali decks there in "the field" on the 12th July which is a special day of celebration for Ulster protestants where denouncing the pope is considered terribly commendable.
The "field" is a special place where the parade ends up where there are various vendors selling things. I used to sell svengali decks there. All the Orangemen with their bowler hats would then get up and make speeches denouncing the Holy Father with great vehemence. Tradition you know.
Anyway I happen to know the Pope was never offended mainly because he has never been invited.
