Come on now Paul don't ask silly questions, aliens aren't hiding behind the moon.

They're hiding underground.

Now who's being silly?

We all know the aliens are shapeshifters and are in the White House! I think you're one of them.......

I much prefer to see the other eclipse where the moon passes in and out of the Earth's shadow. You would expect the moon to just go black as its in the shadow, but because light bends around the Earth, and its frequency changes, you get a lovely red/brown coloured moon.

We do get other eclipses when planets pass between us and the Sun. However the planets are so far away that we only detect a small black dot moving across the Sun's surface.

That's why when another planet eclipses the sun, its best to aim your telescope directly at it so you can watch, because its hard to see otherwise!

We don't call those eclipses, though, do we? We call them transits.

I know of the theory that having a large moon was important in getting life on Earth to evolve quickly, because it creates large tides, but I don't know anything about the details.

I've always thought that having such a large and eye-catching moon was the main reason astronomy started so early in human history. Without the Moon to attract attention, people would probably not have bothered much about the night sky.

In occult terms, the Sun and Moon are the two most important symbols, the male/father principle and the female/mother principle, which are opposite but equal. It's necessary for creatures at the human stage of development to be exposed to striking and equal embodiments of these principles. So... here we are, at a place and time where that's exactly what we've got. Hmm.

I have a theory that the aliens are among us, just that we need special contacts or sunglasses to see them and the only problem is that they destroyed them.

There is a heck of a lot of evidence for this, just look at the moon! It's covered in thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands of impact craters. Some of them are pretty damn big as well, big enough to have caused some serious damage to earth.

Hmmm, Our Earth is also covered in the potholes of past impacts.

On another point, if the moon didnt exist, what would we call the act of dropping ones trousers and pants and showing our posterior out of a coach window?? :)
