I should not have opened this whilst at work! I only browsed in to the Blackpool page because my parents used to take us on holiday there and nearly missed a meeting!!!

As for the silly question about how this links with magic, I am afraid that this is just the ignorance of youth. My interest in magic was born out of seeing magicians on stage performing in these theatres (especially Blackpool) making cages full of birds disappear before my eyes. now, 50 plus years on I may know how they did it but can still remember the thrill I got at the time.

Magic has sadly moved out of theatres, as has the variety show that used to be its home. But history is part of what magic is today and what it will be tomorrow and these old theatres are an integral part of that history.

Dale--HOW the heck do you find these fascinating sites???????????????

My first look in gave me Dante's performance at the Finsbury Park Empire & strangely, only 3 weeks ago I had purchased the same programme from the USA.

Eshley: Do you not realise that Mentalism & Mental Magic NEEDS a bloody good actor to put it over convincingly?
Learn about the Theatre, its Traditions, it Past Masters and its Techniques, and your Magic or Mentalism will improve considerably!!!

Thank you Dale

And if that doesn't convince you, the same advice is given by Paul Daniels and Jeff McBride!

You see now when I go to London, I won't want to tour anything but old theatres, which means I'll be going alone, dammit. :)
