You don't need a gimmick to do scotch and soda. No raven, no magnetic coins, just the knowhow and a few simple sleights. You even end up completely clean. Completely clean — cleaner than you do with the raven

There's nothing you can do with the raven that you can't do with some good old fashioned sleight of hand

Anyway, doing coin magic with real coins (and spending a couple of quid on Bobo - I've seen it going for less than a quid) is way more satisfying than spending massive amounts on gimmicks which you can easily lose

If you put The Raven into our search function, you'll a lot of previous threads with tips and hints. The most regular comment is that many magicians have bought one and very quickly consigned it to the back of the drawer. It has it's uses but they are limited compared to using simpler methods.

Yes, it was a turn of phrase. I just meant that i know how to do the effect well, not that I just do it and say "Ha look its gone". As to the dress, i found a great casual jacket thats like 30 dollars and looks nice but not too nice so i can wear it, preform the effect, then it looks impromptu cause if i wore a dress jacket around the people i know, they would know something was up. As to the scotch and soda thing i meant that i CAN use it for scotch and soda not that i need to. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions about magic. Iv still got A LOT to learn. Im gonna go curl up with bobo's book now. PEACE :D

hiya, i bought a raven which is the "reel" version. this is great as you can mount it virtually anywhere, you can perform it in short cleeves or you can put it on your belt or pretty much anywhere. got it from ebay for about 15 quid.

If wearing a decent dinner jacket in the street is unacceptable to you then instead be sure to only perform the trick at weekends when tweeds are considered to be acceptable.

Since you have now gone the way of BoBo, be sure to check out Michael Jay's posts in the BoBo sticky thread on this forum. It will keep you busy for a long, long time.
