^I've never had that problem. Did you buy them in bulk and they were left in the sun or other extreme heat condition?
I consider switching to higher quality cards alot, but then I see great magicians like Michael Vincent using standard bikes.

Thing is, where I am, Studs are less expensive than bikes despite being higher quality... 
Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking
