Cups and peas. Or should it be Shells and balls?

roger please dont post in upper case characters as it makes it harder to read... take this as a piece of advice :D

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

The book Roger is refering to, is possibly Jack Channins Hello Sucker. In my mind The book to end all on the subject of the pea game.

I also do a shell style routine with cup and balls when playing a pirate at a few events (its a long story, dont ask).
I start off by breaking the golden rule and showing the public how a couple of moves are done. then proceed to play without using those moves (what you might call a different form of misdirection).
of cause there is no way they will ever pick the right cup (even when they do) and I end it by saying "Right me hearties, lets be playing again, but this time for money"
this tends to get a "no way" (although some of the younger kids say yes) at which point I accuse them of thinking I cheat, just cause I can do this, at which point I go into a more conventional routine.
by now they have forgotten about the moves I showed them, either that or Im so dammed good that they still dont see it
