Haven't heard much criticism of Barry and Stuart; am I the only poster here who finds them completely devoid of personality?

God no!, I can't stand them.

Well, it can't be that bad. My sister-in-law wants to learn the spike-inna-cup trick. I advised her to practice

That was a horrible version of Russian Roulette! What is the point of covering the spike when the edges of all the bases are still visible?

None at all from a magician's point of view but the spectators probably wouldn't be quite so clued up. My better half, who knows only a little bit about magic, immediately queried why all the scare stuff about it going wrong and impaling hands etc. We know that's happened in the past but there's no way the BBC would show a routine where it actually took place so it's obviously hype and if it had gone wrong not only would there be a lot of law suits flying around, the routine would have been replaced by something safer! To be honest, I was more concerned about all those ickly fwuffy wabbits, some of those kids looked dreadfully hungry....

I worked on the ticket through window with Chris and Sam and was there for the filming. Shame I didn't get a credit in the titles.

As for the themes, only the main big illusion from each magician had to fit the theme. The other tricks in the show could be on any subject/theme.

Thanks Dale!

Paul Wilson talks openly about The Magicians in this podcast. Hopefully you can all apreciate what has been done and the difficulties that were encountered in putting together a challenging 5 episode show:
