I hate to do this instead of typing, but here are my thoughts on the mutiplying golf balls. I don't know enough about magic history to know if somebody else does it this way just something i was playing around with.

Interesting. I've been tempted to try golf balls for many years after reading the section in Hugard's Modern Magic Manual* but it's not really me.

As well as Hugard's treatment (the book is available as a Dover reprint) there's an even more extensive section on balls in The Complete Illustrated Book of Close-Up Magic by Walter Gibson, including a no-gimmick routine.

By negating the original presentation you are removing the justification for the other hand being anywhere near the effect at all. As you say, if we truly were magical we would not be limited to where we are capable of producing the items from. From an audience perception, it doesn't matter what fingers it appears from, however might I suggest taking in page 301 of Tarbell volume 2.

Jesse, that is some very nice thinking, and quite refreshing to see in someone so young. Youve also put in the necessary practice to be able to pull it off, which from your description will be harder to do than the traditional technique.
I understand where Arkesus is coming from in that the left hand 'load' is usually justified by moving the appeared balls up a finger or two. However, a little bit of thinking could remedy this. Perhaps removing the appeared ball to display it briefly or something.
Thanks for posting the clip and your thoughts.

Its worth watching the Cardini act, as he does the roll, in gloves.

its at the end of this......

Now, the way i think about this is, if you do what Cardini did and show the maniputative skills with the single ball... the audience will not think about where the ball appears.
Though its true to say that Cardini produces a genuinly magican moment with the one ball, and doesnt need to do anything else.

I too can recomend the Gibson book, as its very comprehensive. As well as this, you should also read Buckinghams its easier than you think, the hugard book, Tarbell, and just about any other book you can get your hands on in this field.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Thanks for the tips. and yes, since i posted the video on youtube ive justified the hand coming up, by having it grab each ball from the right with the left and displaying it idividually. Hope i explained right.
