Bicycle Cards: Red or Blue or Both?

Postby me_simon » Jul 30th, '11, 23:01

I'm just about to put through an order of Bicycle Cards and up until now I've always bought the same amount of red decks as blue decks and I was just curious what everyone else does with their chosen brands? Do you mix up the colours or predominantly go with one colour? Or have one colour for shuffled and one for stacked etc.?

Red always. Looks a lot nicer and goes well with the suits I have for working. I do still buy an odd blue back though. For an example, for effects using a predicted card. However, I much prefer Tally-hos over bicycles.

I saw a survey on this, it's 75% magicians use red cards, 25% use blue, if given those two options.

But 64% of people make statistics up. I'm just messing, I could agree with this. I did go through a phase of using blue decks, but I just find the red backs more eye catching.

I kept buying them in equal quantities but ended up rolling with reds because most gimmick decks are available in red, blue can be a little harder to come by.

I use red. This way when I have someone sign the back of the card, it shows up.

Seems Red is the preferred choice and that's what I was thinking of doing too. Going all red.

Poor blue cards. They don't get to go to the ball very often.

I use them pretty much equally - nothing wrong with blue cards.

Hello hds02115,

Any particular reason for this?

I wonder if that's why they're popular in general?

Whatever. It's only magicians that care.
I've never, ever had a spectator go "Oh...how unusual...I usually expect to see magicians cards in a soft hue of vermillion". Ever.
As for signing, use a green Sharpie - shows up well on both of them.
I usually just try and get on with the magic, using whatever colour I have available at the time :D

I find that they are just slightly better quality, they last a lot longer on my opinion, are a little thicker and snappy, and personally I think they look nicer. More classic. Not that there's nothing wrong with bicycles, I've worked with them for years, and I know that in the eyes of the audiance it doesn't matter if they're red, blue bikes or tally's, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't go with something I like.

For predictions or cards that needs attention : RED
For normal use : BLUE

Why ? Color Psychology

Red backs do show up signatures better than blue, but don't you normally get people to sign the face? BTW a green sharpie works great front and back on red and blue bikes.

I use either, it doesnt matter. For things like the brainwave effect i prefer a blue deck as in my opinion a single red back in a blue deck looks more striking than the opposite way round.
