Yeah sorry, if it wasn't clear in my post, concentrate on a single one after looking at various methods then stick at that for a year before trying to learn a new one.

I think one of the worst things you can do however is to stick with the easiest as it can sometimes be the most obvious. Getting it looking natural is the key. Look at how you would normally turn over a card.

unfortunately not much use for chicago opener, but for other routines involving DL's you could show the face of the top indifferent card and then your other hand is free to 'get ready'. Hope this is clear enough without exposing.

Another thing to remember (which might already have been mentioned) is to turn single cards over in exactly the same manner as you do with the DL. That way it becomes much more difficult for the audience to figure out the method. Stick to the same technique of turning cards over even in tricks where the DL isn't used.

Not sure if this has been mentioned either, but whatever method you use. RELAX. If you have a death grip on the cards it is not going to work. Just let the break form, I gather you are using a break, breathe, gently grasp the outside edge and lift letting the other edge run along the top of the deck, then when the cards want to turn over just let them go. They will stay together, just takes faith to allow them to stay together.

In all my years with the dl and teaching and performing different methods the biggest obstacle is the magician just not trusting that it is going to happen with minimal assistance from the magician.
