New acr routine

Postby Tjex1 » Sep 3rd, '11, 17:34

Hi

I was wondering if anyone knew any good acr routines, I am trying to put together one but when pricing on my practice audience I have been caught a few times on the third rise, and am looking to do a card to shoe finish.

I am not looking for any methods, I would just like some advice on misdirection and if there are any good dvds or books around.

Thanks,
Tjex1

There are plenty of ACRs, but to be honest they all are based on the same method. As to getting caught, I think you probably need to practice your technique more. It isn't really a routine when you can have loads of misdirection, as the routine requires the audience to be looking at the deck for most of the time. A card to shoe finish is described in Expert Card Technique. Other than that, I think you just have to practise the D.L. more so it is perfect. The routine is quite repetitive, so your technique on the D.L. has to be really good to keep getting away with it. I sometimes get caught in the ACR, and all I can put it down to is not performing the D.L. well enough.

Daryl's Ambitious Card Routine DVD has plenty of interesting things which you could use to put together your own ACR.

Hope this helps.

I would say that maybe you should try to find some alternatives to the DL that still do the same job, then your spectators wont get a second chance to catch you out. It will throw them a curve ball.

There's an ACR on Oz Pearlman's "Born To Perform" DVD .... it uses an Erdnase Change as well :)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

a few tips on making your own ACR routine:

Make each phrase build. Make it even more fair and impossible. Dont just repeat the same thing over and over. Try to think what the spectator is thinking. maybe they are suspicious that the card you put in the center of the deck isnt really their card. So you can perform the tilt, pass etc. (check out Tommy Wonder's ACR for a lovely move)

Dont shuffle the cards! If you shuffle it looks like you are controlling the cards.

Try to put in a honest bluff. Really build it up this time. Put the real card in the centre, push it in a little and just in the last second take it out and show that it really is their card. Then it gets a laugh and you can perform the move on the offbeat.

if you're looking for a killer end to your ACR i suggest hawk 2.0...... it uses a gimmick but really is a knock-out ending for any ACR routine!

Thanks for all the help, I am using a T pass as a DL alternative and really like the honest bluff, could use it to hide my other moves.

I would love any more help, I only have two months experience, you guys have years!
