And that my friends is the core question - At what point do the lies become more than just entertainment and become exploitation for self gain. :?

I guess you are young and unaware of the last 40 years where Geller has lied and conned the public swearing he has powers and isn't a magician?

The low point for me was him saying he could help the FBI find missing children. That's really low.

Why do you think science has been unable to find this 'intuition' thing?

I'd prefer to be begging on the street than conning money out of vulnerable people by making them believe I have psychic powers.

questions..

would the people who are against the way Uri goes about publicising himself, share their opinions on Kreskin, and Banacheck. Both of whom have in the past been subjected to testing and have been the real deal.

In fact Kreskin, still passes himself off as the real deal in a number of cases, although he also freely admits that he started off as a magician, and every now and again will perform a bit of card magic.

yet Uri, who has in many ways re-invented mentalism, and forced it to rise to the state it is today ,gets a bashing every time he makes a TV apperance.

That is simple.
In order to find something, you need to be able to compare it with somebody who doesnt have it. Intuition, or what ever you wish to call it, is geneticaly coded into everybodys brains, and therefore, you have nobody to compare with.. and so.. you can't detect it.

I watched the series some time ago. "I'm a celebrity get me out of here"

Uri was mentally sending Michael Jackson happy birthday wishes.

Ant commented that it wasn't Jacko's birthday until the day after tomorrow.... :D

Made me laugh, but kinda sums the man up.

I don't believe that science could find "love" either. But we're getting nowhere, are we? Being the gentleman that I am, I acquiesce to other's superior knowledge and will leave this thread alone henceforth.

Science has understood all about love for some time.

"Stage 1: Lust

Lust is driven by the sex hormones testosterone and oestrogen. Testosterone is not confined only to men. It has also been shown to play a major role in the sex drive of women. These hormones as Helen Fisher says "get you out looking for anything".

Stage 2: Attraction

This is the truly love-struck phase. When people fall in love they can think of nothing else. They might even lose their appetite and need less sleep, preferring to spend hours at a time daydreaming about their new lover.

In the attraction stage, a group of neuro-transmitters called 'monoamines' play an important role:

Dopamine - Also activated by cocaine and nicotine.
Norepinephrine - Otherwise known as adrenalin. Starts us sweating and gets the heart racing.
Serotonin - One of love's most important chemicals and one that may actually send us temporarily insane.
Discover which type of partner you're attracted to by taking our face perception test.

Stage 3: Attachment

This is what takes over after the attraction stage, if a relationship is going to last. People couldn't possibly stay in the attraction stage forever, otherwise they'd never get any work done!

Attachment is a longer lasting commitment and is the bond that keeps couples together when they go on to have children. Important in this stage are two hormones released by the nervous system, which are thought to play a role in social attachments:

Oxytocin - This is released by the hypothalamus gland during child birth and also helps the breast express milk. It helps cement the strong bond between mother and child. It is also released by both sexes during orgasm and it is thought that it promotes bonding when adults are intimate. The theory goes that the more sex a couple has, the deeper their bond becomes
Vasopressin - Another important chemical in the long-term commitment stage. It is an important controller of the kidney and its role in long-term relationships was discovered when scientists looked at the prairie vole
Find out how the three stages can feel even stronger for teenagers in love, experiencing first love and first sex.

I thought he was recruited by Randi to be tested as a psychic for that project he did when after all the scientists said he was real he said "no I';m a magician and you are all idiots" or words to that effect.

Am I misremembering?
