The4thCircle wrote:As a closer (although if people want to continue on the general theme of women in magic, that's great, but I want to sort of cap off how I opened this thread) Having had a week on a boat in the middle of nowhere to gain some perspective, looking back I've realised that although I still believe in the validity of the point I was making, reading the exchange between myself and Alfred Borden I see that I made it in a really rather crappy way.
Seems obvious now I was so vehement in defending my view I lost track of the fact that I'd put a lot of focus on a single misunderstanding. I never wanted to cast him as a sexist or any kind of -ist. After all, the misunderstanding was made whilst offering support to anothe female magician. It doesn't really get LESS sexist than that.
Any discussion on the internet can turn someone into a blinkered state of "MUST WIN ARGUMENT" and I fell into that trap. I fell hard.
Some great opinions and ideas have come from this thread, and as such I consider it to have been successful by the parameters I first considered, but in hindsight I wish it could have been more open discussion and less frantic flag waving and sh*t stirring on my part.
I can only apologise

A very noble and mature post.
In hindsight I probably took the comment too personally and may have overreacted in an attempt to defend myself - and I apologise for that
This thread is still very valid and has brought about some interesting views from people
Keep up the good work Stacy, after reading your thread about performing magic to people it appears we are very much at the same stage and us "newbies" should support one another

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...
